February 12, 2026: Lakota East Students stage a walkout in protest of ICE
I am so beyond proud of my generation for standing up in what they believe in. No matter what side of politics you are on, you cannot ignore the power that is felt when our youth voice their opinions in such a public way. We get so caught up in what other people are saying and treating each other like enemies that we forget we all are Americans. Our country’s most fundamental foundation is power to the people and the bill of rights. It hurts my heart to see peers and adults hating on children for using their first amendment rights, especially because they do not agree with the message. Can we not just appreciate that these kids are using the American system as designed? They are peacefully protesting, an action literally ANYONE can do, so talk all you want about them, but at least they are saying something. This is not a political post in any means, it is an appreciation post for the students all over country who decide to voice their opinions in a peaceful way, the American Way.
