You Can’t See Speed created with Tina Stefanou and blind dirt bike rider/mechanic Matthew Cassar is a project years in the making.
Through stories, movement and riding, we explored what Matthew calls “blind vision”: a multi-tactile, sonic way of sensing the world. Greek and Australian, human and horse, visioned and non-visioned with a humming dirt bike at its heart.
It was a joy to shoot across 16mm, 8mm and digital to feel how each format speaks differently. Non-linear, embodied, and experimental filmmaking.
Huge thanks to Tina for bringing me into this wild ride ;) and to Anna and the rest of the team.
@acca_melbourne exhibition is free to visit until June 9
