This photo was taken during one of the leanest phases of my life: super disciplined, training consistently, and pushing through pain. I looked the way I wanted to. But behind the scenes? I was cranky, constantly starving, and always dealing with lingering aches. Biofreeze was always in my arsenal, used right after training, sometimes even on the commute home.
And as if that wasn’t enough, the hunger would hit—hard. Cheat meals gave short-term relief, but came with guilt. So I’d train more to make up for it. From the outside, nothing changed; it just masked how off-balance everything had become.
Look, I get it; people notice the externals first. That stuff can carry weight. But not if it messes with how you feel 24/7, behind closed doors.
Sometimes, you have to get wrecked before you understand what “sustainable” really means. It made me ask myself: why am I even training in the first place?
