āI try not to bang on about running normally, because everyone does when theyāre into it⦠but itās become valuable, so I will for just one secā admits our Creative Director Sam Ryley...
Sam started running a few years ago, and after a bit joined Run Club Chester. He created this little promo video as his way of giving something back - a thank you for everything the club has brought into his life. He explains, āWhen workās busy, I need time to switch off. Iāve found running completely clears your head, reduces stress⦠itās kind of like therapy, really, just with a bit more sweat.ā
ā
@maxhimbury and
@laurenwalkernutrition organise it, and we run twice a week. Itās a social run, not competitive but itās something regular in the diary to commit to. Some people will be training for a race, some just there for a natter. The social side is pretty cool, You never know who youāll end up chatting with as you run together. Interesting people with different backgrounds, different jobs. always something to chat about. Then a brew or a beer after. We meet in Chester and head out for 5k, 7k, maybe 10k Sundays,
Iāve made some really good mates through the club. And having that twice a week keeps you motivated to show up.ā
Sam adds, āLast year I made a weird realisation about myself that my hobbies (guitar, wildlife photography, skateboarding) are always actually something really hard, like every single thing is challenging, no idea why? I think I just love to learn and progress. Itās fun to geek out and get into the detail - technique, how the body works, fuel, nutrition⦠`. But this hobby is way more social. ā¤ļø This filmās a small window into all of that - the people, the energy, and the reason we all keep coming backā
(For the record, Sam swears by Rice Krispies before a run. Thatās his PB secret.)
