✨ We found our way back to our roots! To celebrate opening our new skatepark ROOT5 we will be hosting our first contest on Sunday the 31st of May.

🐛 Categories: Rookies (until 12) - AMS - PRO (men and womxn/genderexpansive)
💰 €17,50 entree fee (food/drink stamps included) except for the rookies, they have to bring a cake or sweets donation🍰
🤑 €1000,- prize purse equally divided for the pro's

When people ask me what my biggest achievement is in my career it's never a win, a streetpart or making it to the olympics. My greatest achievement was being able to give back to my community and create a skatepark with my friends and family.
It was also one of the roughest moments when we find out it couldn't last. Now a year later we have a new opportunity with @jpo_ruimtevoorgeluk at Veilinghal 7 in Venlo and the first preparations on @root5skatepark have started✨💪
The skatepark has always been fully ran by volunteers and every euro we earn is invested back into the skatepark or her community. Now we need our community to help us a lending hand and help us build and maintain the skatepark for the upcoming years✨
With your help we can build new ramps, pay for the first months of rent, create community get-togethers and events and spread the love for skatepark for years to come.

“It’s bad for your body, don’t you want children later?”
My work ‘To titels’ is part of group exhibition ‘SK8GIRLS: skateboarding as an act of resistance’ at Melkweg Galerie that’s on view through May. SK8GIRLS highlights international female and queer skate communities from Ethiopia, India, Morocco, the Netherlands, the UK and the States, among others.
For this series I portrayed three pioneering Dutch female skateboarders from different generations - Laura Engel, Candy Jacobs, and Keet Oldenbeuving - who each helped shape the history of, and pushed forward, women’s skateboarding in the Netherlands by winning title after title. (In the 1970s when the first championships took place in our country, the boys actually began protesting for girls to compete in a separate category after Laura Engel would beat them time and again)
