Sunday, May 17th, Canary Sound Werk is excited to present our second Open Air with Cousin b2b DJ Plead [4hr set], Azu Tiwaline [live] b2b Moritz Von Oswald [live], and sysk. After the success of our first Open Air we are giddy to get back to it with another unbelievable lineup of talent that guarantees to leave our heads spinning and our legs tired by the end of the night - we apologize... you might have to call in sick for Monday ya’ll... ;) Cousin and DJ Plead return to the Canary decks for the first time ever together! Both artists have been busy cooking up a storm in the studio and on the dancefloor doing what they do best; getting the crowd worked up by channeling heady grooves, deep enveloping bass, intricate polyrhythmic percussion, and delightful surprises weaved throughout. With any proper back to back, it takes much more than sonic similarities to click, and we are confident that these two long time great friends are going to take us on an unforgettable 4hr ride. We are incredibly grateful to present Azu Tiwaline and Moritz Von Oswald back to back live, a rare performance saved for special occasions. Known for raw and organic sounds, Azu approaches dub and percussion into psychedelic and ritualistic forms influenced by trance and the vast sound of the desert. As one of the founding members of Basic Channel, Moritz helped to define and perpetuate the sound of dub techno, and has continued to reinvent himself and his sounds through individual and collaborative projects and productions as he flawlessly moves through scintillating abstract and rhythmic manifestations. We are ready to have our minds melted for this one. Sysk will kick things off again making sure those subwoofers subwoofing. See you outside... Saturday May 30th, Canary Sound Werk and 3XL are excited to present Ben Bondy and Special Guest DJ... ALL NIGHT. It’s hard to place a finger on the sometimes elusive, but always enigmatic duo that is Ben Bondy and Special Guest DJ (aka xphresh, aka Pulse X, aka, d.a.w.g., aka crash830, aka k2dj, aka DJ Paradise, aka Caveman LSD) - two formidable producers and DJs on their own (known by many names), who conjure something otherworldly and inescapably eclectic when combined. Their sounds range from experimental club beats, to the genre bending corners of downtempo, dubstep, dnb, dub techno, and everything in between that seems to escape easily definable categories with an impeccable intuition detail and when to shake things up. 𝘗𝘴𝘺𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘤 𝘚𝘬𝘪𝘯 gathers again for collective dissolution. Belgian agitator and STROOM founder Nosedrip has built one of Western Europe’s most essential and unpredictable labels by insisting that old records still have something new to say. He excavates in order to reconstruct: on record and in the club alike, pulling threads from Glaswegian wave to Flemish new beat to Belgian trance, conjuring a personality out of whatever he unearths that feels entirely his own. A self-described ‘gatekeeper to the gatekeepers,’ Nosedrip brings this same alchemy out at night, fusing unlikely dance tracks into an idiosyncratic orchestra of outcasts, rendering the dance floor unknown to itself. Amelia Holt operates at a scale that defies explanation — forging Honey Trap into both a label and party series, running an agency, shaping the lineup at Sustain-Release — and then DJs like nothing else exists. Her sets move like something feral that learned to dance. Broken beats colliding with alt-techno, lurching into delusional krautrock, the whole thing dissolving into shared hallucination. Please join us on Saturday, March 14, for a conversation with artist Jacqueline Kiyomi Gork and Los Angeles-based curator Kris Kuramitsu. Their discussion will explore the themes of Gork’s solo exhibition, Gama 1312-B, including her family’s history at the Tule Lake internment camp and the caves of Okinawa. The installation will be open for viewing 20 minutes before the program begins! The event is free to attend, please RSVP link in bio. Kris Kuramitsu is an independent curator and educator based in Los Angeles, currently co-organizing the exhibition Afterlives: Japanese American Artists and the Postwar Era with Clara Kim for the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, opening in February 2027. Her recent curatorial projects include my hands are monsters who believe in magic at the Armory Center for the Arts in Pasadena and Open Sky at the Benton Museum of Art at Pomona College in Claremont. Jacqueline Kiyomi Gork’s (b.1982, Long Beach, CA) hybrid practice combines work in sound installation, sculpture, and performance with the aim of reconfiguring the traditional hierarchies between audience, performer, and architecture. She studied at the San Francisco Art Institute and researched the history of acoustics and computer music at Stanford University. Her work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at the Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts, Harvard University (2024); Visual Arts Center, University of Texas Austin (2023); Empty Gallery, Hong Kong (2021, 2017); François Ghebaly (2022); 356 Mission, Los Angeles (2017); The Lab, San Francisco (2016); and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco (2016). Join us under the sun and stars as we dance our way from day into night with an incredibly talented cohort of selectors who promise to keep us locked in from start to finish. Kia returns to us after a couple of years in full form. When she isn’t busy gigging across the globe, she continues to be a pivotal force of growing her Australian community at home through her eclectic festival, un:send, and abroad through her brainchild labels, Animalia and Cirrus. With a sound that is both uniquely her own and draws upon many influences, her sets are undeniably fun, heady, and technically masterful in a way that will leave you smiling as much as they will get you moving. Reptant joins us for the first time bringing his absolutely mind melting live set. Brace yourself for scintillating sounds that will tickle your spine as they work their way to your toes with tripped out steezy beats and chest kicking low end. This set left our jaws on the floor and we are sure it will leave yours there as well. x3Butterfly and Succubass link up for the first time on the decks for a very special extended back to back. Both x3Butterfly and Succubass draw from a wide range of sounds with the amazing ability to shift genres and rhythms flawlessly in increasingly creative and effortless new ways. It’s only right that these two will lead us from day into night through a sunset set that will keep you working up a sweat even as the sun goes down.
