Social Butterflies was a free outdoor pop-up event created and hosted by student staff from UBC Campus + Community Planning’s Community Engagement Crew. 🦋
On March 31, students were invited to stop by Lee Square to unwind and socialize with sweet treats 🍨, sweet tunes 🎤, and creative activities that sparked reflection and community connection 📝💌📬. At our message wall, students were encouraged to share words of affirmation on butterfly sticky notes to cheer on other students finishing off the school year. As well, students could send out personalized postcards at our postcard station! 💝
A huge shoutout and special thanks to @rainorshineyvr for coming out to keep everyone cool with their ice cream scoops 😋🍦 and @ubcmusicinitiative for filling Lee Square with some awesome acoustics 🎸🎶. 🚲Got an old bike collecting dust? Don’t leave it behind—donate or recycle it! UBC partners with @bikekitchenubc to give bikes a second life, whether through refurbishment or recycling. ♻️🌱
The Bike Kitchen accepts bikes in all conditions (along with bicycle accessories and parts) except for e-bikes with batteries. Bikes that can be refurbished will be, and those that can’t, will be stripped of parts and recycled.
Abandoned bikes left on bike racks, lockers, or cages take up space and make it harder for other cyclists. Be part of the solution—recycle, donate, and keep UBC rolling! 🚴⚡️At the end of April, all abandoned bikes and bike accessories left on bike racks, lockers and cages will have been tagged and will be removed.
