Over the past few years I participated in the creation of a community garden in an abandoned space near my home. The project was continuously motivated by my friend @marloyarlo . This piece is a tribute to the joy and nurturing connection the shared space brought to our small community 🩷
Flowers act as a symbol for the fleeting and forever changing nature of life, the seasonal cycle of life and death. A glass flower never wilts or rots, what does it mean to defy death and be frozen in time, infinitely. How does this speak to our deepest desires and fears surrounding beauty and life? Years and years ago I read a book about landscape and plants being used as artistic medium, there was one line that has stuck with me: “A garden is not art, it is life itself”.
I imagine the destiny of plants, defending themselves against de-habitation and genetic modification by transforming in extraordinary ways. Will warming temperatures and changing landscapes cause an unprecedented acceleration of biological diversification? Marlo’s Garden brings form to this imagined future flora and their metaphorical biomes.
The artwork was entirely created in my studio. The outer mirrored box is made from two way mirrors, the bottom is lit with a custom LED Panel beneath frosted glass, the base is made from wood. The sculptural flora components inside the light box are made from borosilicate glass. They were created from glass rods using lampworking techniques (torch work) and individually attached using a powerful UV adhesive.

Thank you to @patelbrowngallery
for showing my work at Art Toronto recently 💐
I had been wanting to create this installation for many years. It's so very special to finally see my vision realized. It was an ambitious project with many components. It would not have been possible to pull off without the dedicated support of my loved ones and help from the creative community.
✨️💛✨️
Most immense thank you to my studio assistant @hagstooth who worked side by side with me nearly the entire duration
✨️💛✨️
Thank you to @siriusglassworks for making the central hand blown glass sun a reality
✨️💛✨️
Thank you to @ante_kurilic_sculpture for fabricating the sturdy and elegant metal base that the sun rests upon
✨️💛✨️
Tender and sweet thanks to my incredible friends and family who encourage, inspire, and support me through everything (too many to name you all) @cheersgoldie@junko.playtime@wolfe_gj@pascalegirardin@local.wench@may__arida@mayafuhr@scarlett.rose___
And all my heart for my life partner @rich_f0rb3s who took on ALL our shared domestic tasks for the duration of the project to give me time to immerse myself completely in my creative pursuits (love you!)

I'm so very grateful for all the love and support poured onto me in this vast and magic life
🌟💛🌟 Deep gratitude for everyone who has visited Convergence at the Frop Pond in the past of couple weeks, your sweet words and connection have warmed my soul and keep my spirit dancing 🌟💛🌟
I hope you got a chance to read the luminous exhibition text written by one of my dearest friends, Rosemary Flutur @rossfloot . The full text is available on the exhibition page on the @patelbrowngallery website.
Here's a small excerpt I love:
I think of what 13th century poet Rumi once wrote: “If the nut of the mystery can’t be held, at least let me touch the shell.”² If the nut of the mystery can’t be held, then at least we all can describe, in our own language, the way the shell feels pressed against our skin. We can also of course speculate what exists beyond. Sharing our respective descriptions and guesses—honouring the multivalence—can lead to the tremendous widening of our inner worlds. For Jodoin-Eng, part of her practice is contemplating the mystery together

I'm pleased to contribute my work, 'Unraveling', to the upcoming fundraiser at @capsulesstudio supporting the @gabusittahchildrensfund in collaboration with @ibrahim.abusitta
This is an urgent call to action. Dr. Ghassan Abu Sittah is working on the Frontline to provide essential, life-saving medical care to children displaced and injured by conflict in Gaza and Lebanon. When everything is taken away, coming together to support one another is our most vital act of solidarity.
This exhibition runs from April 23rd until May 19th. Whether you can attend or donate, please help us amplify this. Every bit of support goes directly towards medical care for children who need it most.
'Unraveling' was inspired by one of my favorite shapes, the double helix 🧬⚕️ It is the physical shape of our DNA, a symbol of interconnectedness and associated with the medical community. It is also wielded by the messenger god Hermes with the ability to move between worlds 🪽
Please joing us for the opening:

Two of the wall panels from my Sun Shrine installation are on view at Onsite Gallery as part of Becoming (in the light of the miracle) 🌻🌅🏵 Farah Yusuf, the curator, had the idea to hang the panels perpendicular on one of the support columns in the gallery. I'm pleased with the striking and enduring effect referencing back to the architectural qualities of the original installation. My golden garbage monument dedicated to the solar system shines on 🌞

This is Fortress, one of my works featured in Becoming (in the light of the miracle) a group exhibition on now at Onsite Gallery, beautifully curated by Farah Yusuf 🏙🌀
This exhibition is special to me because it includes works of mine that span over a decade in their creation. Unearthing these older pieces felt like reuniting with an old friend. I've grown a lot since then but I'm grateful to have these gentle reminders of a past Camille. I still feel the same glow of magic seeing them illuminated once again.

Excited to share with you some wearable pieces I've been working on lately!
I've been wanting to make something small scale and intimate for awhile now. Each unique glass bead is made with deep care and contemplation in my studio. Findings are all solid sterling silver.
