The last one is a little treat 😎🍪 Just reminiscing about my time at the @chateau_orquevaux with some amazing people. Here is a little bit of the “behind the scenes” of what went on when I wasn’t painting. Feel free to ask me questions about any of these photos. I would be happy to give some context.

Until now , this experience has felt like a fever dream 😴 💫 . Something too riveting to be real . I’ve tried to make this post numerous times but end up emotionally sifting through hundreds of pics I’ve taken in an effort to preserve this experience never making it to the “posting” part 😭. For me , making a re cap post meant accepting that this experience was truly over and I wasn’t ready for that but here we are 🥹 Being an artist in residence at Chateau Orquevaux was one of the most magical , vulnerable , stimulating experiences of my creative life . I lived out my mid evil princess fantasy frolicking through the courtyard, performed w/ piano (a huge first for me!!), witnessed the grand Eiffel tower under a full moon in all of its glowing glory 🌕 , attended a bat funeral (pure gothic bliss!) 🖤🦇, cathedral hopped ⛪️ , all while connecting with some of the the most vibrant, warm, talented creatives I’ve ever met with a front row seat to the masterpieces they created along the way 🎨 🎶 🎭 ✍️ . My heart is full and I’ll never ever forget this blessing or the people I shared it with

in my first work meeting since I’ve returned from France, my editor asks, what was my favorite part about the residency? the people, I said. we lived in a haunted castle that felt like summer camp for adults. or mtv’s the real world. we were silly. romantic. ridiculous. we dressed up for a Halloween murder mystery and stayed up too late most nights. we hosted a funeral for a bat. danced. set off fire alarms. and cried A LOT. I don’t think we expected to get so tangled up in our lives, but now my heart strings connect to them and create a global web. the universe composed a really great cast for this season of @chateau_orquevaux the last slide is a poem I wrote about the residency, called levitate. I read it at open mic and had them in tears. they embraced me and my work and I felt seen. the poem lives inside a giant book in the foyer for future residents to see. I hope they feel seen here too.
