Behind the scenes of the Blackhole video. We planned the opening shot as a continuous backward fly-through of the oil rig. The vocalist would appear first, followed by each band member as the drone moved through a narrow gap in a high-top platform, revealing the drummer on the first snare flam hit, and the guitarist and bassist as their parts kicked in. The main challenge was safely executing the flight path in extremely close proximity to the talent while keeping the drone at the perfect speed to sync with the song’s intro. Along with this complex opening shot, our team at Camera On Wings captured cinematic climbing and descending orbits with the Inspire 3, overhead shots, fly-throughs, pull-aways, and my personal favorite - dynamic shots of the guitarist on the smokestack helipad, filmed on a 75mm f/1.8 FF macro lens. Since Architects is one of my favorite bands, it was an absolute honor to be part of the Blackhole shoot as the Inspire pilot and aerial DP. . . .
