Iraq will be a hard place to forget.
Sam, Rueben and I travelled across the country by road. There were endless checkpoints and some chaotic traffic to contend with but never did we feel unsafe.
From Basra to the Mesopotamian Marshes, the ancient city of Ur, and Babylon—where we went inside Saddam Hussein’s palace. We climbed the minaret at Samarra, visited Hatra and walked through the ruins of Mosul’s old city with Mohammed a photo journalist who survived being shot by ISIS. Watching the metal workers and trades in the old souks was like going back in time.
Finally, we made our way north to Kurdistan, where we discovered the snow-covered Lalish temples of the Yazidi people. It was certainly an adventure and we are lucky to have been the recipient of so much generosity along the way. I lost count how many times per day we had ’Welcome to Iraq’ 🇮🇶✌️
Today we flew to Amman Jordan for the final few days of our journey in the Middle East.
Just a handful of pictures of the incredible landscapes and experiences encountered in Oman with @noah_bloom and @madebyrueben & @samjbloom
We are three days into our journey through Iraq starting from Basra up to Baghdad then north to Erbil.
Missing our @oli_bloom who’s having his own adventures in Canada.

The skies have been so beautiful lately. Lasting barely 5 mins, I managed to pop the drone up during this freakish rainbow that intensified just before the sun set.
