Maybe it was the thrill of the high notes soaring high in the concert auditorium. Maybe it was the story as old as time that still resonated. Or maybe it was the tingle that ran up your spine when the people on the stage stopped being performers and became real to you.
Now you can help a child experience that feeling of magic and wonder that only a live performance can create through Calgary Opera’s school and community programs.
This season alone 10,750+ students experienced opera through the School and Community Tours, and 2,000+ students attended Student Dress Rehearsals. Through the partnership with @cantarechildrenschoir , 20 children performed on the Jubilee Auditorium stage in Hansel and Gretel. Since 1009, 23,000+ students have participated in Let’s Create an Opera.
One teacher shared: "It was so fun, exciting, and incredibly performed. Our students were completely engaged—I felt so much joy watching them react, laugh, gasp, and sing along."

It was a magical evening of exchange and sharing, with a Q&A session with the artists, bridging timeless opera with a contemporary dialogue.
