First Crit Race this past weekend! Raced Open Novice & Cat 3/4/5. Placed mid pack - learned so much and feel way more confident on the bike. Looking forward to racing Cobb Park Crit in 5-weeks!!
The NADA Miami art fair moves into the weekend. Chicago-based artist, Caleb Schroder, made new work for the booth presentation since the solo exhibition last November. Growing up in rural Montana, Schroder’s contribution to the stand utilizes expanded painting models to probe gender suppositions associated with woven garments of the American Cowboy that, like the wraith-like forms, continue to haunt masculinity.

Combined sections of used and found flannel shirting from complicated memories of labor and recreation in rural Montana occupy three side walls while three assemblages suspend from the gallery’s ceiling. Schroder positions solids with plaids treating each fabric equally to disrupt encoded meanings with twists of colorful edging accents. The resulting ruffles and hand beading pull back the garments’ shaped phantoms. This is the Chicago-based artist’s first solo exhibition, and Ackerman Clarke is thrilled to host them. Special thanks to Caleb and their support network.

Ackerman Clarke is incredibly pleased to present Chicago-based Caleb Schroder’s first solo exhibition opening on Friday, November 22nd. Schroder catalogs found and personal woven garments to animate aspects of inhabitance and ownership. Their handmade deconstructed suspensions, dangling from the ceiling and drooping on the wall, entice the viewer with soft familiarity to confront coded aspects of utility, class, and gender. A reception for the artist and their supporters will be held at the gallery from 5 until 8pm CST.
