An earthy palette references the Merri Creek with clay-coloured cladding, brought inside through stained MDF panelling and dark timber floors that deepen the home’s tonal quietness. Prioritising humble materials, @sonelo_architects placed emphasis on craft rather than premium finishes.

Renovated in stages over five years and two pregnancies, the original inward-looking house revealed its leaks, discomfort and disconnection from the garden. Today, @sonelo_architects ’ own home is a calm sanctuary for their family, grounded in humble materials and thoughtful craftsmanship, with a renewed relationship to landscape.
