Banging start to the year. 🔥♥️ Jan/Feb was filled with the mighty @vancejoy opening for @teddysphotos around Australia and New Zealand. Just a pleasure to be mixing FOH in stadiums! Surreal to watch over the sea of people singing along. Each and every show was a real moment. We had all sorts of weather, blistering hot to wild wind and pouring rain. All adding to the excitement of it all. The incredible team around Vance Joy made for a fantastic, smooth, enjoyable tour. Ed Sheeran’s team really looked after us. Was a joy to tour with them all! Wonderful tour last month with the wonderful @fayewebster A joy to be on FOH duties with the incredible team. Some highlights like Radio City Music hall NY, The Salt Shed Chicago, 713 Music Hall Houston.. and the list goes on. Back in September I had the pleasure of another bunch of incredible shows with the one and only @vancejoy We covered some incredible venues across North America…. Radio City in NY, Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ascend Amphitheater in Nashville, The Greek Berkeley to name a few. And the iconic Wembley Arena in London to end off the tour. A dream team out on the road making for an incredible show every night. I was FOH & Production Manager for this run. Always busy busy, and always a joy to mix every show. A special treat to have @noahcyrus come out for a performance of her song Everybody Needs Someone. I had the joy of recording Vance Joy’s vocal on that song, so an extra incredible moment to see it come to life on the stage. @tinyhabitsofficial doing some jaw dropping performances opening up as well as helping out VJ’s set with a B-Stage moment on some of the shows. I Recorded, Produced & Mixed this in my studio here in LA with Hannah. Hats off to @katiecole for killer Drums and Bass. Go listen y’all! ——— Good Morning, “Ordinary” is here 💚🌞 This song is so important to me because it gave me clarity and motivation I needed to release new music. It was essential in leading me to the vision that eventually became this dual concept album project of “RADIO” and “The Woods”. This is a song about authenticity (a common theme for me). I wrote it as an attempt to find integrity in my identity. How can I embrace all parts of myself— the weird, the wonderful and the wounded? The chorus lyrics are me having a bit of an argument with myself. One part refusing to let me be me “Who do you think you are? Where do you think you’re going?” and the other part fighting for acceptance, despite her flaws “I’m mean, I might make a few mistakes, but I’m me, I’m me”. I got to work on this song with an incredible producer with so much musical integrity @calbarter and I’m a better musician for it. We got to record drums and bass with my girlfriend @katiecole too, and we all had so much fun together crafting the best parts possible. This song is the epitome of integrity to me, from the lyrics, to the creative process, to the music. This record hits close to my heart ♥️ Just loved mixing this beauty at my studio here in LA @thedoubleagents.au repcord “Seemed like a good idea at the time” was one of the first full length albums I assisted on at Newmarket Studio in Melbourne back in 2005 I think. So a Beautiful circle to mix this new album! Since that record back in 2015, Dave’s become one of my best mates, doing so much with him. Together Dave has been my TM, my band mate, the band I’m mixed live, recording with, my surf buddy, and basically anything and everything! Nothing but a joy to be part of this amazing record. All the incredibly talented members of the band bring together such a unique and wonderful sound that is, The Double Agents. Another highlight of 2023 was getting to mix @courtneymelba & @steezmeez ‘s new instrumental record “End Of The Day”, and then, help bring it to the stage. Just a joy to mix. It really is a special thing to help bring something to the stage that you’ve worked on in the studio.
