What a day! I know some of you spent multiple hours on your cakes. Thinking about flavours, sketching designs and making different layers. Then packing them up so carefully and spending your Sunday with me and my family. That means more to me than you know. Watching strangers become friends over slices of cake… hearing the judges speak so thoughtfully about your bakes… seeing boxes filled to the brim at the end of the day… it’s honestly such a privilege to create this space. If I’m being completely honest, I was anxious this time. Ticket sales were slower than usual and I started doubting everything. And then it clicked! We’re in the middle of Lent and Ramadan. Of course. How could I forget that so many of our community are fasting or being mindful right now? I’m sorry for not thinking that through properly. In business, there’s always so much to learn! So from now on, CAKECON events will run in Spring/Summer! Thank you for trusting me to hold these events and thank you all for your beautiful and kind words of encouragement. I’ll never stop trying to make this event better every single time. Thank you all truly! I’ll have more to post over the next few days but for now, I’ll take some much needed time to rest (and finish Bridgerton!) - Joan

Today was a fantastic day entering @cakeconau with my eldest daughter Isabella-rose for the love of baking we both managed to get into the top 10 . I am absolutely blown away with my daughter's courage being the youngest person in the competition at the age of 13 and getting into the top 10 out of over 100 cakes , I couldn't be prouder. When Anna and Darren said my name coming 3rd I was absolutely flabbergasted I could not believe it ! I had come today to be part of my very first cakecon and I can tell you I cannot wait till the next one To be part of such a wonderful group of people who all have a love of baking is just absolutely amazing , everyone's cakes were so amazing and I cannot wait to dig into all the yummy amazing cakes .

Standing here, surrounded by tables filled with the most incredible cakes and a room full of passionate, talented bakers… I honestly had to pause and take it all in 💗 From meeting my favourite MasterChefs to watching this beautiful community come together, this is truly what dreams are made of. Every cake tells a story, every baker brings magic, and being part of this moment means more than words can say. I’m just a regular mum of five and after creating two beautiful events last year, my heart is so full knowing we get to do it all again.
