Day 16 of the #august_coverartchallenge23 asks us to choose our favorite grail. I recently grabbed Batman 181, the first appearance of Poison Ivy, my favorite character. This absolutely must be my choice for day 16. If you haven’t read Ivy’s first appearance, it is a fun story that starts with Ivy upset that she is not noted as the #1 female criminal and follows her attempts to top the list. Day 17 of #august_coverartchallenge23 asks us to select our favorite cover art. Crisis on Infinite Earths #7 was the first slabbed comic I’ve ever owned. The artwork by one of my favorite artists, George Perez, inspired a number of homages throughout the last 25+ years. While not the first cover to depict a hero grieving another in their arms, it is probably the most iconic. I have been recently collecting covers inspired by this one. Happy Free Comic Book Day 2026! This year I was on the lookout for the Dungeon Crawler Carl #fcbd issue and then a bunch of comics for my niece who loves Spidey & his Amazing Friends. I also scooped up my weekly pulls including Zatanna 1 from the new run. What have you been reading? Anything you would recommend? Let me know below. 👇 I ended up finishing a good chunk of books this month and even tackled two non fiction books which helps get me closer to my goal of at least 10 this year. I started A Court of Thorns and Roses this month in my attempt to complete this series before Sarah Maas releases the next one at the end of this year. I enjoyed book one, though I do prefer the Throne of Glass series so far. My favorite read this month was bad Company which discusses the impacts of private equity on American communities and highlights four individuals affected by such buy outs: a Toys R Us employee, a doctor in a rural town, a tenant in an affordable housing apartment, and a journalist. If you are interested in diving into some of the impacts of private equity and an explanation of some financial concepts. This was a surprisingly quick read, even in a bit of a bummer. Shoutout to @olivmax for putting me on to this one! Shoutout to @pcseattlecomics for recommending Razorblade Tears. This book had me tearing up in chapters, then at the edge of my seat in others. Highly recommend this book as it tackles a number of difficult dynamics and topics. I have added a few more S. A. Cosby books to my tbr list. I read Margo’s Got Money Troubles and Sunrise on the Reaping in anticipation of their upcoming adaptations. Thorpe had such a strong and funny voice in Margo’s Got Money Troubles. This would be my recommendation of the two. I think Elle Fanning will kill this lead role. That being said, you KNOW I’ll be seeing Sunrise on the Reaping because I love the Hunger Game movies (Catching Fire is my fave). #currentlyreading #currentlyreading📖 #books #tbr #bookstagram

Amazing Heroes 56 (1984) Thank you @pcseattlecomics for this wonderful copy of Amazing Heroes that features so many of my fave female superheroes! This Kevin Nowlan cover is fantastic! Lots of cool articles including a preview to the Supergirl movie, Alan Moore piece promoting The Saga of the Swamp Thing, and a review on the changes made to Wonder Woman at the time. I grew up swooning over Nate Richert’s portrayal of Harvey in Sabrina the Teenage Witch each week on ABC and WB.
