Ol & I got married a month ago in the special besser brick walls of the Kettering Hall amongst everyone we love so so much. Magic made of abalone on the fire, cherries, nutty cakes, garden salsas, ripped ribbon and foiley fish, laughs, tears & dancing rings. But what made it so magic was the hands that helped in the days/months before hand. Making dresses, picking flowers, elastics, name tag soaking, foil flattening, patatoe boiling, chair stacking, paddock mowing, audio recording, adungu practicing. We love our community and we’re thankful to love people who love making things. It was a balm to the chaos in this world, a clue to what’s possible. šŸ’ā¤ļøā€šŸ”„

Big shifts as I say goodbye to my studio of 5 glorious/freezing & boiling years under the tin roof of @goodgriefstudios šŸ©µā¤ļøā€šŸ”„šŸ’Œ for the first time in 5 years I only have 1 paid job and no art board commitments (compared to 4 jobs simultaneously & little to no pay!) ~ I’m sure one day I’ll be back making art events happen in the wider community but for now I’ll be making art happen within a school community instead! I’m sad to say goodbye to this mammoth stage in my life - one where I learnt so much from everyone at @constance_ari & gg & @rosnyfarm & the artists & community, lessons that are now deeply entwined with the lessons I’m teaching to 17year olds. If you need me (or want to do anything with the above ARIs) I’m no longer behind any of the ARI comms so you’ll just have to email them direct instead šŸ˜‹ or come host a workshop with my students instead šŸ˜Ž Meanwhile I’m graduating my masters of teaching tomorrow, i love my new job as a teacher so much, i have a new studio in my shed, I turned 30, & ollie and I gettin married so you know things are good! But hopefully I can put that goodness back into the things I do in the world ā¤ļøā€šŸ”„ it’s a crazy beautiful/awful capitalist world we live in & we all gotta do our bit to chip away at the evils & spread the joys. Imagination Irrigation was so much fun! Everyone made such cool sprinklers and it was great to see the different ways they worked and could be played under. Thanks so much to artist @caitfar for bringing this awesome workshop to #tidal24festival and to the weather for being just right for testing out everyone's inventions. More photos over on Facebook tomorrow. Imagination Irrigation was initially a collaboration with industrial designer Ben Paul, supported by @artfarmbirchsbay and Arts Tasmania as part of their Perennial Residency Program 2023. #tidal24 #tasmanianartists #devonportregionalgallery #devonportcitycouncil #schoolholidaysdevonport #northwesttasmania #caitlinfargher

🫧Today at Rosny Farm young bath-hosts-in-training considered our collective futures as they foraged and brewed potions for acceptance, curiosity, thoughtfulness, and health. Words chosen by them to try and distill these qualities in older generations who are in charge of the world right now (i.e. all of us reading this post!)🫧 So, tomorrow! We have a few spots left to host you in a spa session where you will engage in an intergenerational conversation with young hosts about your hopes and fears for the world 20 years from now. From these conversations, young hosts will select potions made in today’s workshop that support these future dreams. We today learnt from @nunami.xx about how dreaming about possibilities can help us take action. So, there are two sessions available: Session 1: 11.30am-12.30pm Session 2: 1 - 2pm Tickets $10, only a few spots available! Links in our bios. Funded by Clarence Arts & Events

Come along this Saturday 18th January to the Sole Reflections: Future Day Spa event at Rosny Farm Arts Centre. Upon arrival, guests remove their shoes and immerse their feet in warm foot baths created by artists @butterflybenno @caitfar & @nunami.xx and young spa hosts. Guests will then engage in an intergenerational conversation with their young hosts, supported by Ben and Caitlin, about their hopes and fears for the world 20 years from now. From these conversations, young hosts will select potions made the day before from foraged ingredients to prescribe to spa attendees that support these future aspirations. At the day spa we aim to foster a deeper understanding of our collective future through the simple act of sharing, listening, rest and care facilitated by the thoughtful perspectives of young people. There are two sessions available: Session 1: 11.30am-12.30pm Session 2: 1 - 2pm Tickets $10, only a few spots available! Links in our bios or on @clarence_artsevents website. šŸ’ experimenting, testing and tweaking the stills. Boiling fresh tea tree leaves into essential oil and hydrasol— learning the alchemical process of transformation that turns plants to essence. We are wondering what plants young minds will mix together to form fantastical potions for an uncertain future… ✨ This week the Sole Reflections Future Day Spa opens its doors✨ In the lead-up, children aged 7-12 are invited to join us in a special workshop. Together, we’ll explore their hopes, aspirations, and fears for the future. Understanding the human qualities—like trust and empathy—that they see will support a shared positive future. Using local foraged materials, participants will craft their own ā€˜healing potions’ designed to nurture these qualities through sensorial experience. The young alchemists will then practice hosting each other, testing their creations, and preparing for the spa event. šŸ’§ Come witness this development, experiment, playful mess with @caitfar , @nunami.xx and I. I asked dad (@paulspot2 ) if he could make an Alembic still for this day spa project. He got really into it over Christmas and now I’ve got a Ute full of this medievil technology. These stills are inspired by ancient ceramic designs used to distill the essence of plant spirits, essential oils and plant medicines. Ceramic alembics like these were once the cornerstone of alchemical experimentation and healing originating in Ancient Greece before more fancy bronze and glassware technology took over. Led by young visionary potion makers, next week the Sole Reflections Future Day Spa will open. Potent potions to carry and transform a world of uncertainty made in these ceramic stills. Come and dip your feet in these pools of transformation created by our young spa hosts. Dates: 🧪 17th-18th Jan, potion making workshop for 7-12years ā™Øļø 18th Jan, PUBLIC DAY SPA OPENS šŸŽŸļø Tickets in our bios. Week 4 Poatina šŸŒ§ļø - a rainy week matched with a bout of covid to finish off the residency, despite it all I got my work in the kiln and finished off some pewter casting. Rain sounds mixed with tinkling bisqued Pelton wheel, grey clouds match silver transmission towers, attempting to dye some silk in native indigo (which perhaps wasn’t native indigo 🫐), low hanging clouds & fresh air, Leaning into the handmade aesthetic in my practice as a way of relearning to love things that aren’t massed produced. As the hydro say, this week nature has been replacing the water in yingina/Great Lake so we can keep pumpin electricity into our homes, businesses & industries āš”ļøāš”ļøāš”ļø @artstasmania x @poatina_arts

Poatina week 3: making plaques from old hydro sites about a 20 year old turbine that created 1,760,000,000,000 watts of electricity over its lifetime before the water wore it out ~ which is the equivalent of powering 70,000 homes for a year 🫨 (not sure if that’s a lot or a little) 🫨 went trout fishing but caught no trout, went swimming at the cataract gorge pool and every opshop in launceston for pewter, enjoyed the handmade glass windows at Longford pub 🫐 @artstasmania
