Today, 15th May 2026 marks 78 years since the Nakba or the "catastrophe", the mass displacement of Palestinians from their homes in 1947-49. More than 750,000 Palestinians were forcibly displaced, and denied the right of return to their homes. In Gaza, around 70% of Palestinians are refugees. Britain has a historic responsibility. Its withdrawal from Palestine was reckless and irresponsible with no attempt at ensuring an orderly departure. The Nakba started before May 1948 whilst British forces were still in Palestine. Today, the Nakba continues, as a process of dispossession and oppression of the Palestinians. They still live under siege, occupation, and continued forced displacement. The Nakba continues, at its worst under the Israeli genocide in Gaza. We have a duty to demand our governments take action to ensure that Israel respects Palestinian rights, including the right to self-determination, allowed to live free from occupation, and to return to their homes and receive compensation. #nakba #nakbaday #palestine Image one from @unrwa ’s Nakba archive. Britain-Palestine All-Party Parliamentary Group Co-Chairs @andymcdonaldmp and @debbie_abrahamsmp demand further sanctions on Israel for death penalty law. LINK IN BIO In their letter to the Prime Minister Rt Hon. Sir Keir Starmer, they call on the UK Government to sanction those responsible for Israel's death penalty law, that will make hanging the default punishment for Palestinians, and suspend the UK's trade agreement with Israel. In the letter, they echo the widespread condemnation of repeated Israeli breaches of international law from the international human rights community, "pointing to this as further evidence of the potential crime of apartheid by the Israeli state, as Palestinians in the occupied state are specifically singled out under this legislation."

🎥 Highlights from last week’s Eid reception at the Houses of Parliament alongside our incredible partners @caabu . An evening that brought together MPs, partners and colleagues for honest, necessary conversations on the normalisation of human suffering, and the urgent need for both humanitarian action and political will. Thank you to everyone who joined us, and in particular to the Palestinian Ambassador to the United Kingdom @hzomlot , Baroness Julie Elliott, Rt Hon Alistair Carmichael, and Chris Doyle, for their contributions and support.

Please write to your MPs on Lebanon. Please watch this from Caabu’s Head of Parliamentary Affairs @josephwillits encouraging you to do so. See link in bio for more information. Over 1 million people have been forcibly displaced from their homes in Lebanon by Israel, 20% of Lebanon’s population. The Gaza playbook used throughout its genocide against Palestinians is becoming ever more apparent in Lebanon. #lebanon

Over 1 million people have been forcibly displaced from their homes in Lebanon by Israel, that’s 20% of Lebanon’s population - in the last 3 weeks alone. Over 1,000 people have now been killed. Please write to your MPs. LINK IN BIO. Israel has begun a ground offensive in the south, has continued with its destruction of villages, homes, and bridges south of the Litani River to ethnically cleanse Lebanese from their homes and communities, and occupying and isolating the south, disconnecting it from the rest of the country. The Gaza playbook used throughout its genocide against Palestinians is becoming ever more apparent in Lebanon. Israeli ministers themselves have already made clear their genocidal declarations of intent, with Finance Minister Smotrich saying they will do to Dahyieh (Beirut’s southern suburbs) as they did to Khan Younis in Gaza. The targeted killings of healthcare workers (42 have now been killed, and119 injured) and attacks on 128 medical facilities, the destruction of vital civilian water, sanitation, electricity and transport infrastructure, and the unlawful use of white phosphorous in residential areas, all adds to a bleak and terrifying trajectory. We’ve seen it before. And yet as Israeli impunity rages off the charts, the UK government response remains weak. A bare minimum demand would be for the UK government to call for a ceasefire, one that is actually adhered to, and demanded a full withdrawal of all Israeli forces from Lebanon, allowing people to return to their homes. As communities across Lebanon face destruction, displacement and ethnic cleansing, are faced with such genocidal threats, we urge you to contact your MPs and parliamentary representatives (even though this may never seem enough) to demand the Government takes action. Condemnation has never been enough, and there needs to be serious consequences for such grave violations, including further sanctions. Please continue to support those aiding, helping and assisting those displaced on the ground in Lebanon. #Lebanon
