Glendale Fireโs US&R team trained at Mayorโs Bicentennial Park using a recreational off-highway vehicle (ROV) to simulate real-world rescue conditions.
Engineers Kyle Mallet, Armen Quintanar, and Brian Williams, alongside Firefighters Mike Covington, Spencer Duke, and Cesar Medina, tackled a custom-built courseโdesigned by the teamโfeaturing uneven terrain and a water obstacle to sharpen technical rescue skills.
This type of hands-on training prepares our crews for hard-to-reach emergencies where precision, coordination, and the right equipment make all the difference.
Train like itโs real because one day, it will be.
This week CA-RTF-4 members from @monrovia_fire_rescue@sangabrielfd attended Regional Technical Search Specialist hosted by the newest team in the State, CA-RTF-10 (Orange City, Costa Mesa, Anaheim, Huntington Beach).

Topic: Twin-Tension Skate Block
Your Monrovia Firefighters have recently completed a refresher training on a specialized rescue technique called the Twin-Tension Skate Block.
This system allows us to rescue patients that are stuck on tall industrial structures such as cell towers, radio towers, water towers, etc.
Utilizing this system allows us to safely lower the patient away from the structure laterally to our units waiting on the ground.
We train so that we are prepared to serve.
