Connie Collyer (@c.colllyer ) in discussion with Alfie Barnes (@alfxebarnes ) and Finley Gilzene (@binley.finley ) through a short essay reflects on the importance collaboration plays in finding your spark again when you feel you are in the creative trenches. The ability it possesses to get you back on your feet, is not to be underestimated. As quoted by Gilzene;
“I find when you have a collaborator to make work with, there is a lot less second guessing and anything that you do is part of the making process even if it’s just chatting.”

LOVE ME TENDER
The Curation Society’s end of year group show brought together a number of works that explored themes of togetherness and tenderness, inviting viewers to reflect on the connections that bind us and the emotions that enrich our lives, making space for questions about empathy and unity and their importance in the search for a more loving world.
Thank you everyone for taking part and for making this a great year to be President of The Curation Society 🩰
On Being Here / The Absence portable exhibition book
On Being Here and The Absence are two separate works made in conjunction with one another. One celebrates the act of collaborative making and the other suggests a way in which we can do this without being physically present with our collaborators. The final product, an exhibition, featured collaborative work between myself and six other artists.
Three separate elements show different aspects of the project, a short film acting as a behind-the-scenes, a book as a portable exhibition, with many of the pages being repurposed from the final artworks and the exhibition catalogue, which describes each work formally and in detail.
