I think introductions are in order! This charming chap is Cody, the central protagonist of our grim tale.
They/them, going on thirty, and a perpetually tired grump. Cody works as a private eye to the middle and lower classes of the city and barely scrapes by with whatever they make off that hustle. They’ve a formidably poor temperament even without the influence of Seerick, the True Spirit now possessing them. But maybe that’s a story for later…

And now for our secondary protagonist of the story - the famous Priestess Annika Men.
A member of the Servants of Sanctitude, Men’s popularity has risen sharply since her elevation to the status of Priestess in the temple. But this has caused concern for her methods, which may be less than scrupulous.
At once kind and cruel, devout and heretical, caring and calculated, she is quite the enigma in this story, as is the past that led her to this dichotomous present.
This piece was created as a Christmas present for @gia_makes this year. I tried a slightly different style, mixing some of the whimsical elements of Gia’s art with the line work and minimalist designs I’m used to.

I couldn’t think of a creature more monstrous and cruel than an obnoxious and entitled customer, especially the ones that my friends at my favorite coffee shop deal with from time to time.

I tried depicting a rather strange event in my life, when one night I felt as tho I was piercing a kind of veil, and that something was reaching out toward me. Ghostly and haunting, yet somehow comforting and beautiful.
But it must have been my imagination… they couldn’t possibly have been real… it’s just that sometimes I swear… I can still feel them near me…
