Memento: Open House — Which Way to Twin Village
A 13-day open studio where we transformed @alimsabir.studio into a journey, inviting the public to experience and explore the process and stories behind @byshakes twin-inspired body of work.
We are grateful to everyone who came by and shared conversations with us. It was so meaningful to talk about the journey and the process as the work continues to evolve in preparation for @byshakes Igbo Ora research trip.
In the spirit of the studios coming together, we’re working on a limited print release inspired by this chapter. Coming soon.

I went for my research trip to Igbó Orà, a town known for having one of the highest rates of twin births in the world.
Spent time listening, asking questions, exploring, gathering and documenting.
Grateful for my ‘twin’/partner in crime @ua.x for being all in on the adventure, and to the team @annyproductions for helping bring it all together.
It was a deeply fulfilling and insightful trip. I’m back with stories, and I’m excited to see how they deepen the lore of the twin worlds I’ve been building.
I’m settling back in the studio now, working/sorting through it all & discovering it as it unfolds.

i haven’t been in a studio in a minute - been traveling, working on the go, doing research, collecting thoughts, getting inspired - feeling almosttt ready to get back to it.
