Shot at @naturalselectiontravel San Camp, deep in Botswana’s Makgadikgadi Pans. A place defined by space, restraint and light. Endless horizons, canvas textures, soft stripes and a landscape that strips everything back to the essential.
For photographers, it’s a rare gift. Clean compositions. Honest materials. Light that shifts from silvery calm to warm, dusty gold. Nothing competes for attention, which means every frame can breathe.
Slow shooting. Thoughtful framing. Quiet luxury in its purest form.

I’m the total weirdo that will always linger outside a window, tell you to hold still or walk past reflective surfaces multiple times to find that perfect shot. I Iove it when photography starts creating art, giving you a little more than what you see. To lodge designers — we see you, a little differently than you expected, but we see you. 📸

My last project of 2024 was shooting this exquisite architecture ~ taking in the landscape of the South African Soutpansberg Mountains, getting to know the joyful staff and being a guinea pig for the most delicious menu prepared by chef @real_sox98 // all while channeling the visual direction with co-founder @sarahdusek to launch this property into the world.
I remember Sarah saying after we went through the final selects after 3-days of shooting “I honestly only expected to get about 5 images!” (In the end we got over 200!) When we arrived on our first day, spaces were still getting their final touches, decking was still being laid and pipes were getting connected as staff styled furniture as soon as a space was marked complete…. but in 3-days we managed to shoot a ready-to-open property, between rain clouds and sunbursts that I honestly look back and go “WOW”. As I walked into the expectation that this was going to be a challenging job, with a very tight deadline, I walked out feeling so incredibly chuffed with how we operated as a team and got it done.
One rarely sees what goes on behind owner run lodges, but I can tell you - you can feel it. The love, sweat, and passion that is the tidal wave of effort can be felt throughout the experience. Sarah and team @fewandfar.luvhondo you have created a masterpiece and I cannot wait for more travellers to experience what you’ve created.
