Custom font BVH CCCOD draws its inspiration from the architecture of the landmark building designed by Aires Mateus. This typeface was commissioned by the CCCOD in Tours in order to create a striking and representative visual identity, from its facade to its interior signage.
Three styles have been designed: a Titling version, with these shifting blocks of material; a Regular version, a more classic slab serif, and its Italic.

In the context of the new visual identity for the Cité du design in Saint-Étienne, we developed Stef a custom typeface by @bvhtype and a pictogram system to express a dynamic of constant design creation and evolution.
Toan had the pleasure of leading a workshop with graphic design students at the École supérieure d’art et de design de Saint-Étienne (ESADSE), located on the Cité du design campus. The workshop focused on transmitting a new toolbox—type, pictograms, and principles—enabling students to imagine applications that bring the identity to life and to explain it to a non-professional audience during the Design Biennale.
The student Pierre Saby (@pierre.saby ) conceived this beautiful newspaper as a type specimen, combining technical insights into the typeface with personal texts by the students—reflections on design and on the particular ties between the city of Saint-Étienne and its creative culture.

Custom typeface & visual identity for Cité du design, Saint-Étienne.
A complex urban context bringing together cultural, economic, educational and leisure actors — envisioned as the core of a broader Creative District, within Saint-Étienne, UNESCO City of Design.
Our work began with brand architecture and strategic positioning, defining relationships between the site, its sub-entities and institutional frameworks.
From this foundation emerged a new graphic identity inspired by the design process itself: thought → sketch → form.
We designed BVH Stef @bvhtype , a custom typeface expressing gesture, spontaneity and diversity. Each letter exists in multiple variants, echoing handwriting and personal expression.
The project continued with logotypes, a large pictogram family, a graphic system and a pedagogical approach for long-term transmission.
The typeface was developed by Alexandre Bassi @alexandre___bassi

In 2021, the French town of Chaumont commissioned us to create a custom font for its visual identity, along with more than 150 pictograms.
Dina Chaumont catches the eye with its well-balanced contrasts and tall x-height—a reference to renowned French typographer Roger Excoffon.
The pictograms were based on local architecture and embody the city’s DNA. 🏰
