The reported killing of Abu-Bilal al-Manuki, a senior commander of the Islamic State and widely described as the second-in-command of ISIS globally, by joint United States and Nigerian forces may represent one of the most consequential counter-terrorism successes recorded in the Lake Chad conflict in recent years. More than the elimination of a high-profile extremist figure, the operation signals a major shift in the evolving war against Islamic State West Africa Province and affiliated jihadist networks operating across Nigeria and the wider Sahel. According to the statement issued by Donald Trump, American forces carried out the operation in coordination with the Nigerian Armed Forces following what he described as a “meticulously planned and very complex mission". The operation demonstrates a level of intelligence cooperation, surveillance capability and operational coordination rarely acknowledged publicly between Nigeria and the United States in the counterterrorism space. But beyond the symbolism of the strike lies an even deeper implication: Abu-Bilal al-Manuki was not an ordinary field commander. Click the link in bio to read more. #tinubu #trump #businessday

Lagos State is moving to capture a larger share of the its N16.14 trillion annual food economy with the Lagos Central Food Systems & Logistics Hub in Ketu-Ereyun, Epe. Speaking at the 2026 ministerial press briefing on Friday, Abisola Olusanya, commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, said infrastructure remains the backbone of the state's food systems transformation agenda. She pointed out that food security cannot be achieved by production alone, "as we believe that if food is not aggregated, transported, stored, processed, distributed, and marketed efficiently, then production gains will be lost through waste arising from inadequate storage, logistics, and market inefficiencies." "This is why Lagos has continued to prioritize infrastructure that not only supports production but also connects farms to markets and markets to consumers. Abisola described the Lagos Central Food Systems & Logistics Hub as the flagship infrastructure push of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration, designed as a modern, data-driven platform to reshape how food enters, moves through, and is distributed across the state. #lagosstate #foodmarket #infrastructure #businessday

Walk into any place that serves food in Nigeria and you will call it a restaurant. The buka, the café, the suya spot, the hotel dining room,  we use the same word for all of them. But spend enough time eating out and you will notice that these places are nothing alike. That is because restaurants are not one thing. They are grouped into categories based on how they serve food, the experience they offer, and the kind of setting they create. Here are eight of those categories and what they actually mean. Café A café is a place where the drink comes first. The menu is built around coffee, tea, and other beverages, with food as a secondary offering. You will typically find light bites, pastries, and sandwiches rather than full meals. One of the things that sets a café apart is that you can sit for as long as you like without anyone expecting you to order a three-course meal. Many cafés in Lagos have taken this further by providing working spaces, free Wi-Fi, and other perks that make them a go-to for people who want to spend a few hours with a laptop and a good cup of coffee. Spots like Ouida Lagos, Cafe Neo, and Hot Crust Cafe are common cafés in Lagos. Bistro When Russian soldiers occupied Paris in the 19th century, they would shout "bistro"  meaning "quickly" in Russian, at waiters demanding faster service. The name stuck, and it came to describe the kind of small, no-fuss eating spots they frequented. A bistro is exactly that: a neighbourhood restaurant where the food is simple, the portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable. It is not the kind of place you go to mark a special occasion. You go because you want a good meal without the fuss. In Lagos, places like Danfo Bistro, and Orchid Bistro, are popular spots you can visit. Ghost kitchen A ghost kitchen is a restaurant you can never physically visit. It has no dining space, no tables, and no chairs. It exists only to prepare food for delivery. You place your order through an app, such as Chowdeck or Glovo, and the food comes to you. Click the link in bio to read more. #resturant #businessday
