Here is a beautiful fiddle tune called “Dad’s Favorite” written by our own @malcallagy ! Malcolm’s words about this tune: “When I first wrote it, I didn’t think very highly of this tune. It wasn’t until I played it for my Dad that I began to really appreciate it. His enthusiasm led me to the name, “Dad’s Favorite”. Coincidentally, my violin strings had been tuned to the notes A D A D, which I didn’t notice until years later! The heart of the tune is the second section which has deep sigh-like moments that sink into long, held chords. The first, more melodic section lilts up and down the range of the violin in slow triple meter, much like floating. This tune also lends itself very well to large builds, which we make a point to capitalize on.” Go check out the full video on our YouTube channel, which is linked in our bio! Our Austin Bug will be teaching a harmony singing class at 11 AM, and music will be running from noon-6 pm. These talented stewards of folk/bluegrass/americana music are all electrifying players and it is going to be an incredible set! I’m also so lucky to be playing with Lily T! Seeing her performance last year at Spruce Coffee was one of my favorite experiences in New England! She is such a talented artist and her songwriting is inspiring! I’m super excited to play this show!! The last time I was in New Haven I had the pleasure of playing at Spruce Coffee and I didn’t just see old friends, make new friends, and write a song on their piano, I felt at home. That’s a rare feeling on the road and every time I feel it, a bit more hope gathers in. Come hear some beautiful music and gather some hope on 5/31!

I’m bring my new album “Rokeby” back to the place where it was born, the Hudson Valley, NY! To celebrate this homecoming, I’m playing a beautiful show with some dear friends! MAY 21st @theavalonlounge With @ellagoodwin_ and @bugsonalog Doors 7:00, music 7:30 $15 The last time I played with @ellagoodwin_ we recorded one of the greatest folk albums of all time which will (when it comes out) cement her as the “Voice of A Generation” that we’ve all been looking for! Whoo boy… the songs that are living in my laptop right now are HEAVY with beauty… come hear Ella sing and you’ll feel it! The last time I played a show with @oria3na ( of “Bugs on a Log” fame), the sweetness rolled out across the landscape so powerfully that they had to close the roads and cancel school all across New England! On this gig they noticed the runners behind them looked like little bugs running on a log, and THUS BUGS ON A LOG WAS BORN 🌟 We hope you all get the chance to hang and jam with our Ori, she’s a special one 💕 GO WISH OUR SWEET ORI A HAPPY BIRTHDAY 💖

Bugs in the stude!
