PRINCESS & The ‘Pea’ | PART 1 Princess and The ‘Pea’ is not only a recreation of a children’s fairy tale but also invites a narrative to reflect upon. The portrayal of a young woman and the imposed expectations due to the matter of the heart. A female leading character who resembles “coming of age” emphasize submissive beauty and reliance on male intervention; ultimately presenting a narrow and limiting narrative for young girls making their way to young adulthood. A woman’s inherent dignity proves the power to decide for herself. A woman’s right to rest. *Bringing this vision to life reminded me the pleasure and joy of creating.
