i created & scrapped the whole album at least twice before i figured out a concept for my side of The Good Book III. al told me not to overthink it. he had finished his half which sounded incredible. “put it together and we’re good to go” he said. so i flipped some of my best records but somehow they felt less than the sum of their parts. this was part 3 of the series where i get to work with one of the greatest producers of all time. it had been 8 years since our last one so i had to make it count. ruminating on how i could differentiate from 1 & 2, i started thinking about why i do this, where i’m from, the places music has taken me & what Gospel means to me. then it hit me; what if i could explain via the album - an autobiographical, historical beat tape, geographically centered in london. the only question left was how. before i knew it, sound bites from some of the most influential Gospel artists started jumping out at me. philosophies buried in my psyche, pre verbalized by the pillars of this life changing music, spoken in interviews that took place on uk tv(!!), some before i was even born. next I went through some interviews that actually pertained to me - al on deadendhiphop, benji b on bbc, action & ebro, sway in the morning with griselda, my time in wyoming with kanye - a series of recorded moments illustrating my growth over the years; my testimony spoken through the words of people i know & love. the final piece of the puzzle was to bring it full circle. living in LA for 10 years i neglected the london rap scene so it was time to reach back. this was the perfect project to reconnect with some of my favorite artists. a history of uk gospel, uk rap tape, beat tape & my autobiography. my most personal & (hopefully) universal work yet; for london & the world, myself & everyone. a fractal flower of life of an album & fitting conclusion to an epic trilogy. al’s side is an even deeper meditation & hilarious, listen at least thrice. full experience is only available on vinyl at alcrecords.com while limited supplies last.

the most we can hope for our creations is that they take on a life of their own… I made this beat in 2016 after a conversation with @knxwledge when he told me I needed to drop more music. it was the first week of February and I had just got back from NY with a box of 45s. as I was going through the box I remembered back to a mix I made in 2012. I had blended a bunch of soul songs that had long, yearning monologues and named it after a phrase @thenumerogroup had used to describe a rare soul LP by Wee that they had reissued in 2008. the phrase in question; “Panty Soakers” so with that mix in mind, Knx plea & the fresh box of 45s, I made an instrumental album and dropped it the following week on Valentine’s Day 2016. A hybrid between the mix I had made in 2012 and me paying homage to what Dilla had done 10 years earlier with Donuts. a beat tape sequenced like a DJ mix with a narrative that’s open to the interpretation of the listener; Panty Soakers 2 despite a cult appreciation on SoundCloud it mainly fell on deaf ears until a few years later when @badgalriri randomly used one of the beats - Hey Girl - to backdrop a post she made on IG. meanwhile, as @omar.apollo was working on his debut album he saw Riri’s guerrilla Fenty ad and Hey Girl became Hey Boy, realizing it’s potential with the help of @mk.gee_ & @kaliuchis fast forward to 2025 @ragzoriginale is listening to @noelspiva on @nts_radio and she happens to play that same beat from PS2. he screen records it and hits her like what the hell is this?! before I knew it I had a fire demo in my iMessage and I was like what the hell is this?! in the best way of course. the funny part is me & Ragz had already been cooking but I never woulda thought to play him that beat and furthermore he had no idea it was mine when he initially heard it! anyway, after some back & forth and @kebxde majestic sprinkles we present you a true distillation & elevation of a 10 year old track that remains completely faithful to the spirit of the initial idea; Same Bed

Me and @budgeboogie decided to move the drop up a day. TODAY. 9 AM EST. These books came out crazy! Best ones out of the 3 in my opinion. Also the ashtrays came out great. They look just like a mini version of the book except they open up and it’s an ashtray. ALCRECORDS.COM SEE YOU THERE IN AN HOUR
