Digging through old photos because my friend Will is coming to LA THIS WEDNESDAY May 13 for a comedy fundraiser at Zebulon. @wewill2026mi
Will is running for Congress in Michigan’s 7th District — a major swing seat that could help decide control of the House — and despite refusing corporate PAC money and being outspent 3-to-1, he’s currently ahead in the polls because people are genuinely excited about his campaign and he’s running a killer ground game.
I feel incredibly lucky to know him as a friend, and very excited to bring him to LA this week so people here can meet him in person. If you’ve been feeling politically cynical or spiritually exhausted by the state of the world lately, come hang out with us.
1-4. Photos from the 2011 March on Blair Mountain in Appalachia, where thousands of people retraced the route of the historic 1921 coal miners’ uprising in West Virginia demanding an end to mountaintop removal coal mining.
5. Will at the Philadelphia EPA headquarters, demanding they veto the Spruce mountaintop removal mining permit. The permit was finally vetoed by the EPA in 2011.
6. Baby activists in Washington DC at a 2009 student climate conference protesting outside PNC Bank for its investments in coal and dirty fossil fuels. Around this time we were organizing with the Earth Quaker Action Team demanding the bank stop financing corporations engaged in mountaintop removal coal mining. In 2015, after years of pressure, PNC finally changed its investment policy.

TONIGHT! Lake Dorn & Buff with DJ set by Buckmonster 🎭
A vocalist and dancer born in New Orleans with a nomadic childhood, Lake Dorn (She/her) grew up singing in the church while also pursuing athletics and the performing arts. After moving to New York, Lake trained as a modern dancer, performing at venues including The Met Cloisters, Guggenheim Museum, The Whitney Museum, Performance Space NY, The MoCA Los Angeles, The Getty, and more. Since the release of their debut album, Prepare the Body (2020), the artist has since transitioned. Lake’s upcoming sophomore album, Black American Princess reflects this evolution.

March 18th @silverlakelounge starting at 7pm I’ll be helping @chr0me.____ put on a benefit to raise money for victims affected by ICE. The proceeds will be donated to @aetnastreetsolidarity and @esperanzaccla The Esperanza Immigrants Rights Project. I’ll be selling some photo prints done by myself and friends as well as vintage clothes, books, movies etc. to help raise funds!
