Another sublime set from the wonderful @sylvainemusic going solo at @echosetmerveilles tonight

@lucarbogast was on my must-see list of artists at @echosetmerveilles having seen him in France late last year & he doesn’t disappoint. From the other side of the hill I can hear his incredible vocal range, drawing me towards the stage. The sound quality was top notch too - full marks to the sound crew for that one.

There’s something about @eanair.music & the weather. At @echosetmerveilles last year they were being blown around on the lake stage. This year for their first show outside La Bascala, they had to contend with the wind, rain, bright sunshine & a rainbow. And they won the battle with them all.

I’m drawn to the main stage by the sound of a violin (it turns out to be more than one), but It only takes a few minutes for me to realise that @green.lads aren’t really quite my thing music wise. So how is it that the best part of 90 minutes later, I’ve barely moved an inch, have a huge smile on my face & I’m buzzing from such a wonderful set? For any prog friends,it’s like if Solstice decided to do Riverdance - great musicians having loads of fun on a stage. But if someone could tell me what was going on near the end with the witch outfit, I’d love to know as it was a mystery to me🧙‍♀️🤔😀

@songleikr & their crew are on the ball time wise. The band on the lake stage haven’t even finished their set but Songleikr are on the main stage ready to go, just waiting to hear the final notes in the distance. I’ve seen Maria Franz a few times with Heilung, but this is my first Songleikr show. It feels like a fun, folkier cousin of Heilung, but that contrasts somewhat with the fact the song meanings range from telling people to f**k off (in the right key) to burning them alive (& various unpleasantries in between). So do I laugh or cry at the music ? I did both. They laughed off a few technical issues & came across with real warmth & humour. I’m struggling to see how there will be a more beautiful set the whole @echosetmerveilles festival than this. And they’re even coming to London in a few months too……

London the night before was a full on @thy_catafalque party night, but The Lending Room in Leeds was the setting for a more familiar audience reaction to one of the finest bands out there.

In between sets on the main @hanwell_hootie stage I headed to the Marshall Academy stage for a couple of sets from @orla__fleur & @mokat.official (including a cracking Cure cover from the latter).

If @thegospelofficial are in town, then you’ve gotta be at the alter. Or, in this case in the front row at the main stage of @hanwell_hootie Pretty unique but completely brilliant, I heard a few people talking about how fabulous their set was so they certainly gained some new fans. Will be catching them again in London next month.

Billed (I think!) as a sort of album launch & warm up show for the @jenny.colquitt full band tour, it felt anything but that. A new venue for me - 21 Soho was nice & easy to get to & had the vibe of sitting in someone’s front room but the sound quality of a much bigger venue - perfect for the beautiful & intimate acoustic set that followed.
