Now that all my film scores are on DSP's, it feels appropriate to tell some stories you may never have heard from the sets. Studio execs didn't believe in The Fast and the Furious at first. Then, everything changed. A special time in my life. What memories do you have from the Fast & Furious era? I post often about rare behind the scenes stories from film sets - follow me to hear more. This original film score along with many others is now available at https://btsounds.lnk.to/scores and at the link in my bio 🎉 #fastandfurious #fastandfuriousmovie #filmcomposer #moviescores #composer

The Artemis II mission is one of the most exciting and awe-inspiring events of my entire life. So beautiful. 🌕 I wanted to celebrate by putting together my absolute dream playlist for the crew to wake up to & for us at home who are feeling inspired. Over my career, I’ve made so much music exploring the intersection of space, humanity, and math, and I’ve carefully sequenced the perfect chronological soundtrack for the journey to the moon and back. Thank you to the Artemis crew for representing the best of us. Get home safe.❤️ Link in bio to listen.

A lot of flat arrangements actually have the opposite problem people think they do. It’s not that there’s not enough happening. It’s that there’s *too much* happening all the time. At first it feels exciting. Then your ear adapts and nothing feels important anymore. Here’s what changed the way I arrange: ⭐️ Removal creates impact What disappears is often more powerful than what gets added. ⭐️ Contrast keeps attention Your ear needs shifts in density to stay engaged. ⭐️ Space creates anticipation When something pulls back, the listener leans in. ⭐️ Repetition needs interruption Even great ideas get numb if they never change. ⭐️ Simplicity highlights emotion Too many layers can blur the feeling of a section. ⭐️ Drops hit harder after restraint If everything is already huge, nothing feels huge. ⭐️ Silence is part of the arrangement Sometimes the most powerful moment is what isn’t there. One thing I do constantly: Before a major section hits, I’ll remove more than feels comfortable. Maybe the drums, maybe the bass, sometimes nearly everything. That brief absence creates tension automatically. Then when things come back in, the track suddenly feels alive again. Try this: Go into one section of your arrangement and mute 2–3 elements you normally leave in. Listen to what suddenly becomes clearer. You might realize the track was breathing under all that extra information. 🎛️ Do you tend to build arrangements by adding or subtracting? You won't expect this one! I first saw the unforgettable @kronos_quartet when I was 14 years old. They played Penderecki and Jimi Hendrix with more passion than I had ever seen in any musical performance. I was hooked immediately. We have communicated about a potential collaboration, and it'd be a lifelong dream come true if we could make it happen. #kronosstringquartet #kronosquartet #dreamcollaboration #stringquartet #penderecki

Hey 👋 I’m a composer, technologist, and lifelong sonic explorer learning to show up for the work, even when the ideas don’t come easy… Between scoring blockbuster films, pushing the boundaries of music tech, and chasing emotion through sound, I’ve built a process that keeps me creating. Follow @bt to get your sounds huge! I obsess over envelopes. WAY more than most people probably realize, because tiny changes in attack and release can completely change how something feels emotionally. Here’s the secret: ⭐️ Fast attack feels immediate Aggressive. Urgent. Upfront. ⭐️ Slower attack feels softer More emotional. More distant. More human. ⭐️ Release shapes the after-feeling Short release feels tight and controlled. Longer release lingers emotionally. ⭐️ The envelope changes the personality Same sound. Completely different emotional response. ⭐️ Transients affect perception A sharper front edge changes how powerful something feels instantly. ⭐️ Pads, plucks, drums, it ALL matters Envelopes aren’t just for synth nerds. They shape the emotional language of the track. ⭐️ Tiny adjustments make huge differences Sometimes a few milliseconds is the difference between “cold” and “warm.” One thing I do constantly: I’ll duplicate a sound and change ONLY the envelope settings, nothing else. Suddenly the entire emotional tone shifts. That’s how powerful it is. Try this: Take one of your favorite sounds and spend a few minutes only adjusting attack and release. SLOWLY. Pay attention to how the feeling changes, not just the tone. That’s where the magic is. 🎛️ Do you consciously shape envelopes, or mostly leave them alone? This trick helped me stop chasing inspiration so much, and start catching it. I love to talk about this stuff, and hope it can inspire someone to not feel so pressured when they're stuck. Share this with someone who might need it. #writersblock #musicianlife #artistlife

There are good synths. There are great synths. And then, there’s the Yamaha CS-80. The most sophisticated analog instrument ever created. Polyphonic aftertouch, ribbon control, ring mod, chorus, tremolo, it’s all here. No software comes close. It's the godfather of synths, and Vangelis knew it! 👑 ⁣ I've got so much insane gear in this studio, follow me to see more. #CS80 #AnalogSynth #Vangelis #VintageGear #SynthNerds

Hey there. Quick one. People don’t realize how much the right relationship affects your creativity. Your energy changes. When your personal life feels chaotic, it follows you into the work. You overthink more, second guess more, and force more. Everything feels heavier. But when you’re with someone who brings peace into your life… you create differently. Here’s what I’ve noticed: ⭐️ Your nervous system relaxes You stop operating in survival mode all the time. ⭐️ Your focus improves Less emotional noise means more creative clarity. ⭐️ You take bigger creative risks Because you don’t feel alone in the process. ⭐️ Rest stops feeling like guilt You realize slowing down sometimes actually helps the work. ⭐️ Your creativity becomes more sustainable Not just intense bursts followed by burnout. ⭐️ You stop needing art to “save” you Which weirdly makes the art better. ⭐️ Life starts feeding the work again Instead of draining it. The older I get, the more I realize this: Peace is underrated. Especially for artists. The right person helps make your purpose easier to access. 🎛️ Has a relationship ever positively changed your creativity or focus?
