happy pride! āļøš what a pleasure to speak to @voguemagazine about the work weāre doing as two young black estheticians in the industry! link in bio š
āCleanā beauty sounds like a safety standard.
But it isnāt a regulated definition.
Thereās no universal framework that determines what qualifies as ācleanā in cosmetics. Brands define it. Retailers define it. Marketing reinforces it.
Skin care isnāt about avoiding āchemicals.ā Itās about formulation, dose, and stability.
Fear-based messaging is simple. Skin biology is not.
Understanding the difference changes how you choose products.

I kept coming back to the same questionā¦
What would it look like if people actually understood their skin?
Not guessing.
Not following trends.
Not starting over every few weeks.
Just real guidance, based on what your skin actually needs.
Thatās the idea I canāt shake!

I see this every single day.
People dealing with acne and hyperpigmentation, trying everythingā¦
and still feeling stuck.
At some point, I realized itās not just about products.
Itās about guidance.
Most people arenāt failing their skin.
Theyāve just never been given the right framework to understand it.
So Iām starting something.
Not just another routine.
Not just another recommendation.
Something better.
Iām documenting the process in real time.
Follow along if youāve ever felt stuck with your skin.

Sat with a client last week who hadnāt worn her hair up in two years because of her acne.
Another who turned down a promotion because it required being on camera.
Another who stopped dating entirely.
None of them needed to be told their acne was sexy.
They needed someone to actually help them heal.
The beauty industry discovering that acne is āhotā right now is not progress. Itās a new angle on the same product pitch.
And the version of acne theyāre celebrating is always conveniently retouched, always on someone who already meets every other conventional beauty standard, and never the kind that leaves hyperpigmentation behind for months or years on deeper skin tones.
Treating a painful, chronic condition like a trend is not neutrality. Itās not even positivity. Itās just marketing.
The goal was never for your acne to be seen as attractive.
The goal was for YOU to be seen, fully, regardless of your skin.
Thereās a difference.

Healthy skin has pores. Healthy skin has texture!! Healthy skin reflects light differently depending on hydration, barrier function, and environment. What we often see online is great lighting and high-shine finishes. Thatās aesthetic curation, not necessarily structural skin change. Just remember that your skin isnāt failing because it doesnāt look like someone elseās lighting setup.
