Impossible Songs by @futurecrib is out on all platforms today! Making a record without computers was freeing, fun, and for us, a dream come true. I encourage anyone who makes music to give it a try in any capacity. Here are some shots by @averyadzima from our release show a couple weeks back where we celebrated the release of the record in physical formats. It was a highlight night for us as a Nashville band going on 8.5 years ❤️ There are many folks to thank for helping us make this album but big shouts to @adairselchow and @albertosewald for both engineering and mixing, and to @thevoltageexchange and @saltmastering for digital and vinyl mastering, respectively. I’m also thankful for my bandmates Johnny, Julia, and George and their talents, values, and vision. Most importantly, thank you @katieknipper for your endless love and support of me making music. Had such a fun time composing this piece with Bryce - such an inspiring friend and musician in my life. This was a unique experience for the both of us. For being a “pianist” I’ve never really tried anything in the instrumental realm but am happy with how this all came together. I’m excited to announce the 4th @futurecrib LP Impossible Songs is finally arriving May 9th, 2025. 13 new songs, including 4 songwriting/lead vocal debuts from George, new heights for Johnny’s songwriting, live string features, a fun and curious instrumental, and more. Most of all, it’s a pure representation of us as a band. And for the first time, we achieved our dreams of an all analog record: 16 track tape > 2 track tape > lathe cut > vinyl. Freeze’s new album, On The Banks Of Disappearing, is out today. These are my favorite of his songs to date, and in them Freeze demonstrates a new sensitivity and depth to his music. The tracks are live, face-value with minimal overdubs or studio magic, and call back to 70s songwriter rock like Nilsson and Randy Newman. I’m happy to be a part of another Freeze recording project, and this one was particularly special. We reassembled a staple Freeze backing band: myself, @s.grantparker , Johnny @futurecrib , and @control_ault_delete . We drove to Pittsburgh as 5 old friends hanging out and making music together again, and recorded the album in just 5 days with @jakehannermusic . Our comfort with each other as a band and Jake’s skills as an engineer melted away the time pressure. Through this album, I also met a new friend in Jason Reis of @tastes_like_music who took a leap of faith and produced and funded the record as an extension of his channel: new boutique label Tastes Like Records. Jason is a passionate music lover and scholar. He casts a wide net and listens deeply, so I’m thankful the care he showed to this album and those who made it with him. One week ago, we put on @space.prom in Nashville again for the 7th time. The Brooklyn Bowl show was just the cherry on top of a month-long effort taking Prom to new places too. We brought the show to new heights this year; a top-tier band, a cast of dancers, all-star guests, LED walls, and a custom @gibsonguitar prize guitar are just the beginning of it. I’m so proud to be a director of this show. The opportunity to meld 2.5 hours of songs into a story and help turn a group of (unbelievable) individual musicians into a badass band brings me so much joy. Reflecting on the year I’m reminded why I love Space Prom: the music has only ever been a means to get to the good stuff. We play 80s music because there are so many familiar favorites across countless genres, the decade is ripe with dance music and singalongs, and the diverse instrumentation supports our big band. But really, Space Prom is about challenging each other to pull something off that we’ve never done before, as a team. It’s also about uplifting our vastly talented community of artists with Special Guests. And lastly, it’s about giving people a chance to dress up, meet friends, dance, and feel SAFE to do so. Some people shake their heads at cover shows, but that’s not really what we’re doing here. For those that came this year and those that continue to come every time, thank you for a sold out night. It means the world. And countless thanks to everyone listed below and more; Space Prom takes a village and I’m happy to have this one.
