We had perfectly clear skies in San Diego this morning to watch the super blue blood moon. I went out to the beach at 4:30a. It started to peak as this image was taken at 5:58a right as the blue hour crept in giving a soft color tone contrast. Then I had fun lining up the moon with all the surfers out in the water with my 500mm Nikon lens 🤓

We put in heaps of airtime on our honeymoon. 51hrs to be exact. Circling the globe up, down, and around. 🌏

So long 2017! A year with ups, downs, and sideways! The year I said "I do" to @chomppp in the magical Ojai valley, went on assignment in Antarctica with @soulbuffaloexpeditions for GE, travelled 650m below the oceans surface hunting for clues to how life began for @biographic_magazine via the best team @novusselect (yep, thats me in the inverse aquarium). On the flip side it wasn't all glittering gold. I hit work droughts, learned a lot about myself and look forward to going further in 2018.

The story is live! This summer @biographic_magazine & @novusselect sent @blighguy & myself on a voyage 500miles off the coast of Brazil to document an all star team of researchers from around the world as they explored the unknown for clues about how life began on our planet 🌎 Link to the interactive article in my profile.

I drove up to Mt. Laguna to howl at this big ol #supermoon 🌝 Clouds obscured the initial rise and 30mph winds didn't help. I had to scramble behind large boulders to shield the 500mm from wind vibration.
