this frame is over 5 inches wide and about 3 1/2 inches deep.
Covered in close to $2000 in 22 karat gold, it’s constructed with two flat and hollow liners, a scoop, and a heel; that means it took 32 perfect miter cuts to build this frame. Then hand carved. Then sanded, layered in bole, water gilt, burnished, matte gilt (in the panel and on the vertical sides) and finished of with a subtle patina.
Teamwork with Lucie on this Florentine sgraffito; I paint and scratch in the design and she follows while the paint is wet and removes more paint to make it beautiful.
