Daniel will be painting live on the main stage, breaking down a landscape in real time — showing how he handles color, value, edges, and atmosphere as it unfolds.

What are your thoughts on western shows? Have you attended the Prix de West before?
“Scents of Summer” is my main piece for the show this year, and my only still life. My other pieces are recent landscapes, which I hope will be a better fit for the event. Time will tell!

Who’s coming to Atlanta this week?
I’m Headed back to the @the_portrait_society for their annual Art of the Portrait conference this Thursday-Sunday! I can’t believe it’s been EIGHT YEARS since this painting of a friend’s children won the Draper Grand prize. It was totally unexpected, and the thrill of a lifetime - I’m honored to be amongst so many esteemed artists who’ve been awarded over the years. Looking forward to joining artists from all over the world again for another great conference!
I’ll be participating in the “Face Off”, demonstrating with the inimitable @marywhyteofficial , and joining colleagues for a Friday evening symposium. Should be fun! Hope to see you there!
