Making this was a very emotional process for me. Not only because of some of things I witnessed but because it was a heavy reminder of the position that people like me hold in this world. How we are viewed. How we are treated. Everything. It was both heart breaking to witness and think about why we’re doing all this and up lifting to see the unity of the people who were organizing. “Revived and Renewed” This weekend I had an opportunity to be a part of an amazing showcase featuring two other amazing artists @simplymrscarpenter and @itsbyonka . As a part of the showcase we were challenged to create a piece that represented Peace: The calm before or after the storm. I took this opportunity to challenge myself and step outside my normal comfort zone and make something that not only represents my feelings but uses myself as the subject. I would like to thank everyone that helped make this showcase a success and supported me along the way. A VERY VERY BIG shoutout to my great friend and fellow artist @thedreamerslullaby who helped me bring this idea to life. I’m proud to announce that my album ‘SDS1’ Is available on all streaming platforms. This 5 year experience has been something I will never forget. I’ve met incredible people along the way who’ve believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. Without their words of encouragement, and actions of support, this day wouldn’t exist. Whether it be free music videos, discounted photo shoots, press services, and networking - y’all pushed me to be great. In this album I talk about very personal things that brought me to my lowest of lows, and cemented my strength - reaching the highest of highs. Generational trauma, substance abuse, assault, religion, and recovery are things I felt called upon to detail.
