1. The figure was first primed with black, before base-coating with an equal-parts mixture of Midnight Blue IONIC-0100 and Astral Blue IONIC-0097, applied using an airbrush.
2. Pthalo Blue IONIC-0094 was then used to apply a highlight, again using an airbrush, taking care to leave the previous basecoat in the areas of deepest shadow.
3. A second highlight was then applied using Enchanted Blue IONIC-0094 and an airbrush. The surface area of application was reduced, leaving the previous color visible to create a gradient.
4. Astral Blue IONIC-0097 was diluted with water at a 1:2 ratio and applied as a thin glaze over the whole figure with an airbrush. This helps to blend the transitions between layers, creating a smoother result.
5. Focus then shifted to brushwork. A 1:2 mix of Astral Blue IONIC-0097 and Light Blue IONIC-0109 was applied as a highlight, directing brushstrokes away from shadow areas. While edges were highlights with pure Light Blue.
6. Select areas were then highlighted with pure Light Blue IONIC-0109 to add volume and interest. Where necessary, transitions were smoothed with glazes.
