Home alone inside Philip Johnson’s iconic Glass House, at least for a few minutes. Such an inspiring visit...one I’ve been wanting to make for such a long time. Amazing to see how the economy of space can feel so vast, the contrast between the spare modernity and the 17th century painting by Poussin, the surprising tiled ovoid bathroom and its leather ceiling. It was all just incredible. We toured the painting gallery, the sculpture gallery, and saw the pond pavilion that was an early study for Lincoln Center.
Fendi’s spring runway show was held in their brand new factory in the Tuscan hills a short drive from Florence. We were invited to wander through the state-of-the-art facility before the show to see the incredibly skilled and talented craftspeople and artisans working in various stages of production. It was absolutely fascinating to catch a glimpse of how these beautifully crafted pieces are made and to get a more intimate sense of the people, the time, and training behind each of these items. Such an amazing experience.
A visit to the Ralph Lauren Palazzo here in Milan to see the new fall collection which was filled with rich textures, earthy colors, and tweeds inspired by Abingdon, said to be the oldest town in England.
SCAD Fashion 2026…so much talent, hard work, imaginative ideas, boundless creativity in one show. Wishing all the @scadfashiondesign graduates the absolute best as they embark on their careers. The future of fashion looks so bright!
Snapshots from last night’s incredible @scadfashiondesign show featuring graduating seniors’ collections. The work was such an inspiration, the energy was electric, the talent on display was humbling, and I couldn’t be more thrilled for all the students. I am so proud to have served my third year as a mentor to 14 students while cheering on and encouraging the entire class. Thank you so much to Dean Dirk Standen, Chair Kori Smith Urso and the entire faculty for this rewarding experience. The future of fashion is incredibly bright! Bravo!!
One of the many great rewards of being a mentor and juror at @scadfashiondesign is spending time in the wonderfully imaginative spaces envisioned by @paulaswallace and her team of dreamers and designers. The idea that interiors should inspire seems key to the school’s philosophy. Every single space, from the bathrooms painted with large-scale fashion illustrations of student designs and an Edith Piaf soundtrack to a technicolor lobby lined salon-style with student artwork and an abstracted map of Atlanta carpet underfoot, is created to uplift. The attention to detail is astonishing. And you feel it. The students feel it. There is truly no place like it in the world.
Amazing to see Dior’s Bar jacket up close. Absolutely stunning. @scadfash presents Dior: Crafting Fashion, an incredible survey of the maison of Christian Dior and its designers, from Monsieur Dior to Jonathan Anderson. A magical setting with an unbelievable paper garden created by @wandabarcelona . What a treat.
Fashion’s future at the SCAD School of Fashion Seniors Final 5! This weekend I joined final critique sessions in Savannah for graduating designers as they presented their five-look collections. After much discussion and some hard decisions, these were distilled to four top looks for next week’s jury process that will determine who will present during the graduate fashion show. I’m in such awe of all of the students and their talent and skills. I’m especially grateful to the 15 mentees who generously shared their inspiration, processes, and collection development with me. Wishing all the SCAD designers the best as they embark upon their promising careers in the world of fashion.
Ready for the camel carpet last night at the NYC premiere of Brunello: The Gracious Visionary at Lincoln Center. A navy seersucker DB jacket, big pleated dress shorts, and velvet slip-ons felt right for the warm night. Thanks so much @gastrochic for the photo.
Walked the appropriately camel carpet last night to celebrate the NYC premiere of Brunello: The Gracious Visionary at Lincoln Center, a cinematic tribute to the king of cashmere, directed by the legend Giuseppe Tornatore (Cinema Paradiso). Bellissimo!! Bravo signore Cucinelli. And thank you to the most wonderful dinner companions Helena Christensen and Guy Trebay.
What a fabulous NYC night! A stunning spring evening spent at the hottest table in town @wildcherrynyc in celebration of a wonderful creative partnership between @allenedmonds and @nickwooster and their new Reserve collection. It’s penny loafer season and these are some of the best I’ve seen. I’m sporting socks with my loafers these days, but feel free to go bare. What a treat to have Wild Cherry to ourselves…such a wonderful, cozy room filled with friends and fantastic food. Get the Caesar salad, and the burger, and the fries, the mussels, the mousse. Heaven. Thank you!
