¿Quién dijo que después del cáncer una mujer tiene que reconstruirse?
Este es el tráiler del documental: "Breast is not required" ("No se necesitan pechos") que reúne testimonios de mujeres que eligieron no reconstruirse.
No como una renuncia, sino como una decisión consciente sobre el propio cuerpo.
Porque su cuerpo ya es válido, femenino y completo tal como es.
Durante años se nos ha dicho, de forma explícita o implícita, que la reconstrucción es el “final feliz”, el cierre esperado, la forma de volver a ser aceptables y deseables. Estas mujeres cuentan otra historia. Una donde la feminidad no depende de una cirugía. Una donde optar por un cierre plano (flat closure) también es una decisión legítima, informada y profundamente personal.
Comparto este proyecto con mucho orgullo, porque pude colaborar en la traducción al español y porque es un trabajo honesto, sensible y necesario. El documental creado por @sethrt@hannahcsullyhan (uno es su propio testimonio) ha recorrido festivales en Estados Unidos, Sudamérica y Europa, han recibido más de una docena de premios y hoy está disponible para ver en streaming con subtítulos en español.
En el #DíaInternacionaldelCáncer me parece especialmente importante amplificar historias que no siempre se muestran, decisiones que incomodan y voces que muchas veces quedan fuera del relato dominante sobre lo que “debería” pasar después del cáncer.

Shortly before I had prophylactic mastectomies, Seth reached out to me to ask how he could be of support. As a dancer, I felt like I needed a physical space in which to move through some of my grief as I prepared for surgery. He offered his studio, and we made an impulsive decision to turn the camera on to document my words & movements. We had NO idea that a year later, we’d be joined by 7 other amazing Flat women to tell their stories— AND that we would use the footage to create two films that have now traveled the world winning awards!!
More importantly, we’ve found community and advocacy work that exceeded anything we could have anticipated in that spontaneous moment in 2023.

The other night I had the honor of attending @sfdancefilmfest to support my fellow breastie Hannah and her short film Breasts Not Included. 💗
Whew!!! 😮💨🥹🤩 This film was powerful, bold, beautiful, fierce, and downright magical. In just a few minutes, she managed to pour in emotions most people spend a lifetime trying to understand. By the end, I was honestly speechless.
Seeing a survivor tell her story with that much courage and creativity reminded me why our voices matter.
Hannah, I’m so proud of you. Thank you so much for the invite and for creating something that speaks for all of us. 🌸🎬
