@erinlenau finished radiation a couple days ago so we got together and shot the next installment in her cancer journey series. In Erin’s words:
“This experience has taught me a lot. The least it could do is teach me, I guess. I’m not thankful for cancer but I’m glad I went through this and will continue to deal with this instead of anyone else in my family. I didn’t want to do this but I’m glad it was me. Watching from the outside, people think I’m a warrior but I don’t feel that way. I have no choice, I have to do this. Cancer has given me a new outlook. I have better boundaries and more empathy. The best thing that has come of cancer, a baby, and a pandemic is the pain, fear, and growth that’s been forced on me. Frankie is the best gift as well.”

I could not have posted this yesterday on the the day you’re “supposed to”, but now that it’s safe, on Mother’s Day +1, @shirajohnson approaches parenting (and everything else) with a grace, acceptance, and forgiveness that I have always aspired to but never really been able to pull off. It’s really something to witness and admire.
Plus what level of awesome do you need to be to say “absolutely yes!” When in a foreign country we’re not familiar with, I say “hey wanna find out what happens if we take the train in the wrong direction?” For decades, that will be my favorite travel memory. And forever my favorite travel partner
All of life’s challenges are the price of admission for nights like this. The creators, dreamers, miscreants, and weirdos I have met and forged friendships and/or collaborations with over the years I’ve been granted so far, I can’t possibly oversell. Who knows when this ride ends but when it does we’re skidding into our parking spot with busted brake lines, at least one tire blown, and hairline fractures in our bones and we will have loved every second, even the ones we told you we unequivocally despised
