📢Speak ART is USE’s annual mainstage. This program grew organically from our mission to amplify the voices of New York City artists, namely those from historically ignored and underserved communities. To create Speak ART, artists from our internal Development Lab program enhance their ideas into a public-facing, devised performance featuring music, movement, and text. Post-show conversations between the audience and ensemble allow us to connect more deeply with our community.
Meet Speak ART ensemble artist Chris Browne Valenzuela @browne_con_e ! ⛵️🎭 Chris is an award-winning Chilean actor, playwright and educator based in New York City. His original work has been presented by various organizations, including Dixon Place and The Center, earning him The Hispanic Federation's 2025 FuerzaFest award for "Best Play." As an actor, he's led productions at various houses both in the United States and his native Chile, including The Puerto Rican Traveling Theater, Mill Mountain Theatre, INTAR, IATI, JACK, Teatro Mori, and others, as well as being a company member of Teatro Sea. Chris is also an educator focused on Mask Work, which he teaches at Circle in the Square Theatre School and The Terry Knickerbocker Studio.
