I’ve been thinking a lot about my aging body lately. The decisions it’s demanding of me in my (alleged) mid-30’s, the g*vernment’s obsession w controlling/removing my options, and how all of these factors exist in the face of time’s inevitabilities. How much power is actually in my hands and what’s slipping through my fingers? I’ve been exploring the use of fruit imagery for its symbolic connections with both fertility and perishability. Maybe I should’ve called this piece “when you plan, God laughs” “Decision” 30” x 22” Stencil monotype, colored pencil, and graphite on paper This piece is on view as part of an exhibition at @flatbedpress gallery up until Feb 22nd

This is a piece I started during my time at @flatbedpress and then finished at my desk at home, sitting with it for a while as I drew the braid. It feels like a bit of a shift in my practice. Focusing my time on printmaking led me back to working on better trusting my hand with a pencil and without a straight edge. I kinda like that this piece can either be read as things falling into place or everything blowing up. I’m trying to remind myself that often one can’t happen without the other and that sometimes both processes look the same in the moment. And so, ultimately this piece is about the tik tok ban. “Falling into place” 22”x15” ink, collage, graphite, and colored pencil on paper This piece will be included in a show @flatbedpress opening on Jan 25th beside the work of Master Printer, Jerry Manson.
