Have to come up with a title now… let me know if you have any ideas.💡 Thanks @joshuaporsburn and @flatbedpress for your support of this project. #lithography #colorlithograph #collabration #collaborativeprintmaking @hollisartprof

And that's lift off 🚀 There's nothing like pulling a giant woodcut off a block • This is The Fool, the eighth and final figure in my 13-year long Carrying Things From Home series • I spent 7 months carving this woodcut by hand, and one month dying and cutting the papers that color it. My team of three people and I spent the best two weeks creating 18 of them, all by hand from start to finish. My most heartfelt thank you to my print bestie and co-lead @alyssa.m.ebinger , perfect paper prep @paigeperusquia , and chillest/kindest assistant @lonecowb0y , as well as @flatbedpress for facilitating my vision for the series the past 13 years! #printmaking #artonpaper #artprocess #artstudio #contemporaryart

How do we get 70 colored pieces of paper on a woodcut? • All the pieces of hand dyed paper are soaked and kept at the right dampness, then they're prepared on sheets of plexiglass and coated with wheat paste. The pieces come out to me and Alyssa on a perfectly timed schedule so we get them on the inked block as quickly and carefully as we can. The white paper is already trapped in the press, so when we run it through, all the paper pieces are glued together and printed on at the same time. Stay tuned for the big reveal! #printmaking #artonpaper #artprocess #artstudio #contemporaryart

This Thursday at 6:30pm, we will be hosting an Artist Talk with the one and only @sfernandezart ! We have been honored to collaborate with Fernández on this impactful body of work. "Enduring Presence: Memory, Migration, and Becoming" honors Latina women who have left what is known for what could be. These sewn forms reflect a state of becoming rather than arrival. The work acknowledges the difficulty of migration, as well as embraces possibility, dignity, and hope. The dresses honor the endurance and labor as ongoing ways of being, affirming that from rupture and change, meaningful and sustaining forms can emerge. You won't want to miss this! Please visit the link in our bio to RSVP.
