A morning in the Beekeepers Hut @hawardenestate
It was kind of perfect timing when I was asked to come and stay at Hawarden, I’d been planning on going for a short solo holiday and then the chance to stay in this shepherds hut turned up!
It was lovely to get away on my own for a bit, explore the nearby Dee Valley and just enjoy mornings in solitude in the walled garden, listening to the dawn chorus 🌞🌿
I can’t put my finger on why but I just love this photo
It’s not perfect (though I wouldn’t say many of my photos are perfect 😄) but there is something about it that just draws me in…maybe it’s just the way that it feels like it encapsulates a piece of a warm spring evening, maybe it’s just the colours with specks of shimmering sea…I’m not really sure, but I felt like it deserved a post of its own 🌿🌞
Documenting my solo days in the van
I was always very nervous of parking up and sleeping in the van, even when I was with Brochan. Scared that someone would ask us to move on or that we’d get into trouble. But something seems to have shifted since I had to start doing it alone. Maybe it’s the fact that I have no one else to depend on, I’m not sure. But I am really enjoying the freedom it brings 🌞
The coast of Skye
It really has been a long time since I posted any photos on here! Life’s just been busy and full of changes and the months have flown by…
These are a couple of photos from winter 2025 on the Isle of Skye. It was a beautiful walk and so much sun, bit different to this winter so far with all the rain 😂 fingers crossed the spring is going to be brighter and sunnier 🤞🌿
Merry Christmas for yesterday ✨
So nice to have a little sun and frost yesterday, my sister and I went for a walk first thing to soak it all in. And I actually felt like taking my camera along for the first time in a while, hopefully the inspiration is coming back for 2026!
Also hoping the beautiful weather continues for a little while longer 🌞😊
One Autumn morning in September
Can’t actually believe this was back in September, these last couple of months have gone by so fast, it freaks me out a bit!
These were the last photos I took before deciding to take time off Instagram and I actually haven’t taken any more photos since these. I said I’d share a little bit about my time off IG on my next post, so here it is -
It sounds slightly mad but going onto this app had got to a point where it made me feel slightly nauseous. I would post a story or a post and then wonder what on earth I’d done it for. What was the purpose and what was I achieving?
This autumn has been a bit of an odd time and I just didn’t want Instagram swimming around my head along with everything else. I had no inspiration to pick up my camera or share anything. I was just comparing myself to others and doom scrolling.
But trying to build a business in photography made me feel I had to keep it all up. I feel like all businesses now have to use some form of social media to be seen. And the addition of everything AI (which I honestly hate) made it all feel more pointless and hard to compete with.
But on the flip side it’s nice to connect with lovely people on here and share real images not made by computers. Just beautiful moments that aren’t perfected. I just want to focus on what I love to capture and not work for the algorithm.
Anyway I’ve rambled long enough! Having had the time off it’s nice to be back occasionally and share a few things. I really appreciate the kind and supportive messages some of you sent, that gives me some encouragement, so thank you 😊
After a month away from Instagram I’ve decided to dip my toe back in 😄
These were some photos I took of my friends house back when I was house sitting for them in September. They’re both so creative and I never get over how beautiful they’ve made their home! I find it very inspirational 🧡
I’m probably not going to post very regularly here and I’m also going to offload the app from my phone, which I’m hoping will encourage me to not check it all the time 😂 that’ll also mean I won’t be checking comments/messages regularly. It’s been lovely to have the month off here and I’ll share some thoughts about it on the next post 🌿
