Bronx Week 2026 Kickoff | Part 1
Lights, energy, and pure Bronx pride | Part 1 🔥
Hosting this year’s Bronx Week kickoff was truly unforgettable.
From the moment I stepped on that stage, I felt the heartbeat of the Bronx through our culture, our people, our Bronx energy.
This wasn’t just about hosting… it was about celebrating who we are.
And trust me, the Bronx showed ALL the way up!
I’m so grateful to have been a part of something so powerful, so vibrant, and so full of love.
We set the tone and this week is just getting started!

Swipe to see the freshest air filters and Earth Day Festivities that The Bronx has to offer on April 18th 👉🏾➡️🔜🔥 We will be able to break bread on the block with local foods while celebrating the green gem that is Maria Sola, courtesy of South Bronx Unite. You can also receive one of the air cleaning units that many of us spent time constructing this week (there is still time to help building more 👀). Shout-outs to the Columbia University community and The Mission Continues for delivering comrades who can roll up their sleeves and put in the work of making these activations happen. 💪🏾🫡📋 Please consider joining AND bringing an idea for what you would like to see in Mott Haven & Port Morris. Everyday our neighbors at SBU continue to lead the charge against cultural displacement and air pollution through mutual aid that centers the unique history of the South Bronx. Even when bureaucracy and disinvestment clouds the amazing work of this team, our vision remains clear: We are reclaiming the waterfront and developing a healthier community that brings us all together. Thank you to all who are bringing us into this joyful movement, and see you all next week!! 🌱🚸🛣🪧🌿

Neighborly Newsletter #4,923: My glutes are hustling to make it thru the week, but clearing these South Bronx streets in a winter wonderland was a humbling way to experience nature in the Northeast. This is a love letter to all the essential workers, sanitation trucks, apartment supers, and elder homeowners taking on the graveyard shift to make sure that our roads don't stay icy for more than a few hours ❄️
As tropical as my ancestors were, I do admit that there is nothing like a change of scene -- especially when you come up in a 4-season city on the most moody corner of the Mid-Atlantic. Snowflakes are like seasoning for the real ones of the concrete jungle who need to cool off by nature. Places like Maine gave me a broader view of how we can enjoy the outdoors, and I'll never fall out of love with snowboarding 🏂
Still, a blizzard blows you into dozens of questions about the type of city we live in. Who's the first person I'm calling for help? What will become of daily commutes past mom & pop shops? How are students going to fare with a topsy-turvy school day? Where does all that salt go when it's no longer needed? Which workers need to stand their ground outside, and which ones deserve to stay indoors the most? 🥶
These concerns are heavier than the shovels we're relying on today. They won't be fully addressed in one sweep, but they will bring out leaders like our @nycmayor who can roll up their sleeves (under the puffer jacket) and neighbors who don't need to wait on them to start showing up for each other. I'm proud of how this hood shows up in cold times, and I'm also amazed at how beautiful it looks in the all-whites. 🤍👟🐻❄

TDLR; Coro's BID Night at Yankee Stadium was a vibe 🏟 ⚾️🗽 Small businesses give our city the hustle that it's known for, and it takes a lot to truly make it Uptown. We need a village that can nurture each of our ideas while challenging every storefront to be responsible community members. No one shop can (or should) do it alone -- and just as all politics are local, the best ownership is the one that you can wave to in-person!
That's why Business Improvement Districts are such an important part of local development. We need to support the tools that bring us into clear collectives with a mission of uplifting neighborhoods. I'm grateful to be surrounded by folks from all 5 boroughs who are committed to supporting entrepreneurs across The Bronx & Harlem. I'm even more excited to have met my new neighbors who will be seeing how their work affects us firsthand.
Cheers to more homeruns across our local storefronts Uptown! 🛍🛒🤑💈
