« My Spanish Heart », and particularly the track bearing its name, is a record that profoundly shaped my life. While I share more of a connection with Chick Corea than with Spain, this album radiates a generosity and « simplicity » ~ its brilliance unfolds immediately upon listening. There’s an unmistakable 🍪🤎 authenticity here: warm, confident, and delivered by virtuosos. What struck me early on was how the piano, at times subtly tucked away in the mix or boldly upfront, seemed to embody the true purpose of music ~ to evoke emotion. 💀🪄✨ Over time, the intricate rhythms and harmonies brought their own layers of delight, but My Spanish Heart is about embracing harmonic pathways that feel, let’s say, the most intuitive. 🧠🫁 Chick’s melodic freedom, paired with the shimmering lightness of his reverb-soaked synths, introduced me to sonic textures 👽🛸🪐 I’d never encountered before. It’s this seamless blend of melodic spontaneity and grounded execution that makes this album timeless ~ a beacon of creativity that reshaped how I perceive music itself. One thing that brought me extra joy is realizing that The Sky on this album is actually Children’s Song No. 8. Children’s Songs is another work of Chick’s that profoundly impacted me ~ not just as a listener but as a player. 🥭🧞‍♀️🎡 That album completely transformed how I approach composing and building around an ostinato. • #ChickCorea #MySpanishHeart
