Monthly/weekly dance nights are a PHX staple, they are a gathering space, a ritual, a ceremony that keeps Phoenicians together and allows Phoenicians to connect with their neighbors and bond with their city.
A dj is not just a cool person who knows good music, anyone can be that, a dj is someone with soul, someone who can preside over a ceremony and fill up the air with magic until it's choking and takes over the minds and body's of those who came to dance and heal themselves from the ills of their daily lives. Bri and Paulina have that in spades.
THAT BEING SAID it's important to state that this vote was not REALLY about proving "who is best" it was about community, it was about getting y'all to show your love and reverence for our local gatherings places, art, and music.
We must keep up this passion, we don't need a contest to make it known! (even tho it is fun)
This is how we keep our ever shrinking gathering spaces from going to the wayside, together. Every since contestant was a winner in this, 602sdays ( @djents ) at @thebikinilounge , @queergothnite , and Dead Mans Party ( @carteylawless ) at @yuccataproom are also the essence of community that bring people together, make our lives worth living, and we must continue to protect and love them. There is nothing more sacred than a DIY space, place, dj, or band.
Love them, let them know how vital they are to your lives.
