I made this reel for @anchor.perinatal for Maternal Mental Health Awareness month, but it feels very fitting to also share it here on Mother's Day. Of all the feelings you could feel on Mother's Day, I hope you feel supported. @ellenb15 @sallysd28 @falangelanc @britt.mcandrew @andrea.staebell @thatkfb @kelliedanielyoga @megahohbo @joellencraft @erintalksocd @eringal.14 @courtneypotterstudio @krdegraff

When I wrote this poem, "Postpartum Depression," I was thinking about all the different ways I could metaphorically explain what it feels like to experience perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. May is Maternal Mental Health awareness month, so I decided to set the vocals from my audiobook to video. The more ways people have to understand these disorders, the better. 💜 This poem is from my poetry collection "All That We Ask of You Is to Always Be Happy" from @cavankerrypress Maternal Mental Health resources: @postpartumsupportinternational @anchor.perinatal @nc_matters @carolinabirthandwellness @policycentermmh

Y'all. @north.carolina.poetry.society launched their 2026-2027 Poetry in Plain Sight (PIPS) Series in April. PIPs brings poetry to public spaces across the state. I'm a little slow off the blocks, but as the Interim State Coordinator for PIPS, I'd be remiss if I didn't give a shout-out to our April poets. If you see the poems around your town, tag @north.carolina.poetry.society

Thanks to everyone who came out to Oberlin Regional Library in Raleigh for our PIPS Launch back in April. We have been so busy running from one poetry event to the next that we are just now getting around to sharing these. Thanks for your beautiful words and your patience. Photo credit goes to our wonderful intern, Angie Horne! @angiegirl2727 The next round of Poetry in Plain Sight submissions open in September. It's never too early to start getting new poems ready to submit!

Starting maternal mental health month by sharing our virtual talk for this year's @iocdf conference on Perinatal OCD! I have the privilege of joining @bridgetkbell as she reads poetry from her book "All We Ask of You is to Always Be Happy." My colleague, Allie Lieber and I will incorporate clinical context to the personal examples. We're thrilled to represent the perinatal population this year! Come and find us on the virtual track on 7/12.

The books are listed alphabetically, but, hey, I'll still take it. Merci beaucoup, @regulatorbookshop for stocking local writers!
