Rolling out the carpet for our May poets through Poetry in Plain Sight with @north.carolina.poetry.society
Poetry in Plain Sight is a program through the North Carolina Poetry Society that brings NC poets' work to public spaces because the world is better with a little poetry sprinkled through it.

When I wrote this poem, "Postpartum Depression," I was thinking about all the different ways I could metaphorically explain what it feels like to experience perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.
May is Maternal Mental Health awareness month, so I decided to set the vocals from my audiobook to video.
The more ways people have to understand these disorders, the better. 💜
This poem is from my poetry collection "All That We Ask of You Is to Always Be Happy" from @cavankerrypress

Y'all. @north.carolina.poetry.society launched their 2026-2027 Poetry in Plain Sight (PIPS) Series in April. PIPs brings poetry to public spaces across the state.
I'm a little slow off the blocks, but as the Interim State Coordinator for PIPS, I'd be remiss if I didn't give a shout-out to our April poets.
If you see the poems around your town, tag @north.carolina.poetry.society
Thanks to everyone who came out to Oberlin Regional Library in Raleigh for our PIPS Launch back in April. We have been so busy running from one poetry event to the next that we are just now getting around to sharing these. Thanks for your beautiful words and your patience.

The next round of Poetry in Plain Sight submissions open in September. It's never too early to start getting new poems ready to submit!
Starting maternal mental health month by sharing our virtual talk for this year's @iocdf conference on Perinatal OCD!
I have the privilege of joining @bridgetkbell as she reads poetry from her book "All We Ask of You is to Always Be Happy." My colleague, Allie Lieber and I will incorporate clinical context to the personal examples.
We're thrilled to represent the perinatal population this year! Come and find us on the virtual track on 7/12.
